This is a life sized sculpture of a breeching humpback whale. It is located in a shallow pool on the water's edge. When the water's turned off it's really beautiful... but with the water turned on, it looks real! You can take some freaky photos...More

And awesome whale fountain. The fountain starts up every few minutes (sorry, cannot remember exactly how long in between) and makes it look like the whale is breaching. There are views of Douglas island and gastineau channel from the statue. It was a pretty amazing...More

Beautifully done, impressive. The boardwalk superbly done with seating, vegetation signs, restroom. Sorry it is not more centrally located, not easily seen from main thoroughfare. Even entrance to boardwalk not very recognizable.

It is very authentic looking rendition of a whale surfacing that provides for excellent photos. It is a bit hidden, almost under the island bridge, so you need to be on the look out for it.

Yes, it's true. I took the shot looking at the mountain rather that at the town or the chanel and she thought it was a real humpback! I wish!! It is a well done piece of art.

A little walk from the cruise port but well worth it. This statue is so pretty plus it looks so real. Lots of info about the statue, benches to sit on and beautiful views. You can walk along a board walk and view eagles, seagulls...More

The story on the bus was that this statue was shipped to Florida and the sculpture meant Florida was sent to Juneau, Alaska. All in all, this was sorted out and the whale now sits the the river where it belongs. I can be see...More

Well worth a visit and to my mind the top attraction of Juneau. An inspiring antidote to the cruise-ship owned bling shops 10 minutes away.

Loved visiting this, we stopped on the trolley bus tour but if you don't want to do tours then walk from the ship if you are on one. It is a reasonable distance but if tours and shopping aren't your thing a brisk walk will...More
