In mid August my wife and I took our highly anticipated float plane trip from Juneau to Admiralty island to hopefully experience wild bears up close. Our guide for this trip was Hanna. She was very knowledgeable and and reassuring. WOW. Was good fortune on...More

Jeff was our guide and Alec was our pilot in the float plane that took us to and from the island. Jeff guided us along the water during high tide to get to the viewing area, an area that all guides will not go beyond...More

It's hard to write this review as we only saw one bear, who slept for 3 hours and had a fleeting glimpse of a mother bear and two cubs. We were really disappointed as we'd booked this tour from Australia 9 months prior. That said,...More

Michael, This highlights one of our great challenges: balancing a desire to get close to the bears while keeping them comfortable with our presence. From my conversations with your guide, it sounds like the bear was resting in such close proximity to you that it...More

We didn't pick the best time of year (the salmon had not started to run) but we sure had an adventure watching the bears. We viewed six bears in total, including one cow with two cubs. The weather cooperated until we were ready for departure,...More

Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly, I love the early season. May in particular can be excellent when the bears are just emerging and we even see courtship behaviors. Also! The weather is usually nicer earlier in the year. Come back for some fish in July...More

Dan, the manager, was great to work with! We had to call him multiple times with questions and he was very knowledgeable. Our tour got cancelled twice two days in a row due to unsafe weather to fly in. But, Dan was helpful and accommodating...More

Heya! Glad we were able to get you out there!! Thanks again for your patience and flexibility too. I was excited to get out there with you. We definitely recommend some leeway in August especially so that we can get out in safe conditions.

The trip to Admiralty Island was the highlight of our Alaska holiday. Starting with a fantastic seaplane trip to the island, we spent about 5 hours on there and visited the creek tower and the creek outlet viewing spots and saw 19 bears in total....More

Wow! What a day. All of our guides are part bear, but maybe none more so than Bjorn... Thanks for the review and glad you had a great adventure!

Clay was our guide - great guy, very personable and very knowledgeable about bears (and all other wildlife). We photographed an amazing number of bears; great experience. One suggestion: if you are lucky enough to get that rare sunshine, be prepared for some exposure issues...More

Sunshine is such a rare problem for S.E. Alaska, but it can be challenging for photos - we like to stay into the evening as much as possible to get that evening light/activity. Would love to hear more about your adventures - tag us @packcreekbears...More

This is our second bear visit with Pack Creek Bear Tours and boy it didn't disappoint! 14 bears that afternoon! 3 sows with cubs, some fishing, some running, some lounging. It was like National Geographic Live!
