Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took Coastal Helicopter tour (also highly recommend) to view the glacier. Easy to look from distance and think, oh, looks like some ice and snow. The glacier is way larger than you can imagine and the enormity is quite humbling. Landed on the glacier and walked around for a while. A definite must do.

This is a must do tour. The helicopter ride and flying down on the glacier was great. The dog sledding was even better. Big shout out to Willoe she did such a great job with our group. Al the dogs were so cute too!

Not as crowded, more scenic and longer scenic trip to get there. Fabulous trip! Worth every cent. If in Juneau, gotta go!

We got up to the glacier by helicopter from the airport...then we were introduced to the adorable huskies who pulled us all around the beautiful glacier then we met 2 4 week old husky puppies...this trip was the highlight of my holiday!

The Herbert Glacier trail is one of the easiest to explore in Juneau! The trail is well maintained and relatively flat. It's a great walking or mountain biking trail through thick old growth forest, as you get closer to the glacier you can see a drastic change in the forest age!
Once you get right alongside the river you have a great view of the glacier, you can continue on alongside the river, as long as the water level isn't too high, to get a closer look. This point of the trail becomes more rigorous involving climbing up rock faces. The trail is clearly marked with red tape.
It is really an outstanding sight and I recommend everyone see it while in Juneau!

Going back in the glacier was a wonderful experience. Amazing topography and photography options. Glacier footwear was provided. Don't forget sunglasses and rain gear.
We booked through our cruise line, but it also possible to book directly with the helicopter company.

This hike is 4.9 miles in to the glacier with minimal incline. It's lush foliage and well kept trail makes for easy walking and great photos. My friends and I did this trail round trip in about 3 1/2 hours. We stopped frequently to take photos, so can be done quicker. The trail had several bikers and they enjoyed the wide trail.

I really wanted to land on a glacier and so you can imagine my disappointment when the cruise ship cancelled by excursion because of weather. Fortunately, Coastal Helicopters came to the rescue. They flew us to Herbert Glacier and we landed on it. This was my favorite glacier we visited.
This glacier is huge! It had everything to see on a glacier such as a stream, a really deep water hole, boulders, and even gold flakes in a puddle. We saw no one while we were there. It was super beautiful and we got great pictures. The glaciers we saw after this one were kinda of disappointing. If you have a chance, I would visit!

We also wrote a desperate review for Juneau, Coastal Helicopter, we chose them and we made an excellent choice. The views, landing, copter, crew and entire trip was great.

It's been a long time since I was on this several-mile trail, but it follows ariver through woods to end at the Herbert Glacier face. A very nice day outing. if you have limited time, I would go to the Mendenhall and brave the tourist crowds for a more dramatic glacier withvisitor center amenities.
