Came to Kenai as a side trip to Soldotna and Homer. Consequently we had done no research on Kenai. Fortunately stopped in the visitor center and the lady there provided us with historical information, recommended things to see and supplied very complete maps. Much appreciated.

Whist the displays and museum are excellent, the staff as previously mentioned, were not quite so helpful or knowledgeable. No parking for RV's in the car park, you will need to park and walk from a side street or other business carpark.

Take the time to visit. You won't be sorry. Nice museum inside that is free. Helpful people and a sample of what you will find. A few nice books and gifts. This is a welcome center and they do a good job.

Very nice visitors center. Not as helpful as others in Alaska. Interesting museum attached. Great animal display including mammals, birds, and fish found in and around Kenai.

Great information center, free parking and clean restrooms. Be sure to pick up a Kenai passport it has some great coupons in it. I loved the history display as well. Be sure to ask for the free gift.

If you are headed to Kenai or further north this a great place to stop for local information. They have brochures covering all of the Kenai peninsula. Very knowledgeable people to assist you with your travel and sightseeing.

This is your typical visitor center with maps and pamphlets to pick up but it also has a nice taxidermy collection as well as some native artifacts and other interesting things. Worth a stop.

The only way I know of is by road or charter flight (the latter being expensive). So if you take the train from Anchorage to Seward that would be about the only practical way to get back. I don't imagine any car rental... More
