Requires a rather pricey boat or plane trip, but for most folks the trip will be worth it. The boat ride is long, but has the advantage of at least spending 10-20 minutes in the fjord just sitting so you can take pictures and they'll slow and look at interesting spots along the way. The plane flight is great, but... More

Our pilot with Taquan Air took us high up over the fjords so that we could see the snow capped mountain ranges off in the distance. I appreciated that to get a perspective of the magnitude of the mountains and the majesty of Alaska. Then he swooped through the fjords and finally landed on a lake. Flying is the way... More

We took a high speed boat tour as an excursion during Alaska cruise. It is an experience, but not WOWS. Certainly the Misty Fjords are beautiful but I felt it is a little long. I will probably see the area by an airplane next time if I could. The staffs on the boat are kind, but their narration was long... More

We took the Misty Fjords boat excursion from Ketchikan. There is certainly a lot of beautiful scenery and we saw seals, but I guess my expectations exceeded reality (which is my own fault). I would not want to discourage anyone from taking this lovely boat ride and enjoying all the beauty Alaska has to offer, just don't expect huge snow-covered... More

There are few ways to get here so most visit by air, which can give you just a taste of the size and variety of the landscape as you climb from sea level to pristine lakes thousands of feet up.

We took a small plane and flew up and it was stunning. The view was truly stunning and a complete joy. The only shame was that we were not there longer as it was so relaxing, We landed on a lake and there was only 5 people there, silent, calm as a massive mill pond

I went on a cruise excursion to the beautiful Misty Fjords National Monument, which is actually a very remote section of Alaska set aside for people to enjoy. The tall cliffs, bleached seashore, misty seascape, and quietness all contributed to the awesome experience. We viewed several bald eagles and a few curious sea lions. Our onboard naturalist shared many interesting... More

We visited this via seaplane and it was cool to see. We seen the glaciers, trees, wildlife, and got some cool pictures. The island of seals we seen was cool. The scenery up there is second to none.

Booked this excursion on Princess Cruises for $199.95. Excursion lasted 4 1/2 hours and consists of a ride on a very new boat followed by a 1/2 hour float plane ride back to Ketchikan. Saw a few bald eagles on the boat but not much whale activity. Naturalist on the boat ride gave good information, ride was very smooth and... More

Took this floatplane tour of the Misty Fjords off a cruise. We were lucky to have a sunny afternoon; heard the morning trips were cancelled due to heavy rain. Beautiful scenery!
