What a gem, right on the waterfront

Saw this amazing park as part of our 3 hour ecotrip with Wild Wolf Tours. Thought it might be hokey, it was anything but! really glad to have gone.

As there is not very big park, it takes just a little time to visit and see amazing Totem Poles. Anyway, loved it. Suggesting to take a cab or shuttle bus.

If you're exploring Ketchikan you must stop by Totem Bight State park it is a great way to explore and learn about the native people here and what totems were used for and what they symbolize. The park has great educational signs so you can learn about totems as well as appreciate the beauty of the temperate rainforest. You can... More

You can go without a travel guide, but it really did enhance our experience. We learned about native culture and local plants/berries. Beautiful park would highly recommend.

This park has a lodge that you can enter and totem poles with some explanations on a sign. It is right on the water, so you can check out the rocky beach. There is a poem on one of the display signs. The office was closed when we were there. It would be better to go when it is staffed.

The short trail through the park has a number of beautiful trees! We took photos of the totem poles and enjoyed going inside the Community house where people used to gather for meetings, ceremonies etc. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the building but it was very nice to go inside and feel the history of this place.

We visited Totem Bight State Historical Park as part of a Ketchikan city tour package. This park is perfect for learning about totem poles IF you have a knowledgeable guide who can explain the meaning and symbols that the totems include. It's a short walk from the parking lot to the totem and clan house area, not a hard walk... More

The collection here is small but excellent. Pay your fee at the small booth before you get to the totem poles. The man working in the booth was able to answer all of our questions. The only disappointment was that the building where carvers work was not open the day we went. I'm not sure if that building is part... More
