In case you didn't know Yuan Shikai was the general who became the last emperor of China and tried to prevent the Qing dynasty from collapsing...sadly he failed but did become the first President of the new republic of China for a brief time. He also had 32 children so quite how he found any time to run the country is an amazement in itself. Anyway, this is his Tianjin home and sadly was closed when we visited in February...but from the outside it is still an impressive house and hopefully next time in Tianjin the doors will be open.…
