Open market

Cheap wares, cool little vendors and shops to check out. Get a nibble here and there and pick up some souvenirs.

So this place is quite fun unlike all the other ancient streets in other towns. There really is a lot of stuff and I do see things which I don't see anywhere else in other parts of town. There are lots of street food such as sweets you can blow and create so pretty, cultural museums and stuff like that.... More

Upon walking in, you may feel as if you're walking into an authentic "ancient" "culture" street, but it's honestly a well decorated tourist trap with the common touristy souvenirs. Not saying you can't completely get items of interest, you may, but I don't find this place unique at all.

We walked around the area for about 2 hours. Three Americans with 2 Tianjin locals. Lots of Chinese culture types of gifts. Also several stores selling knockoff of high end goods like the Pearl Market. Take a chance and try some street food, you will not be sorry.

Lots of sights and smells and interesting things to look at. I planned to spend an hour, and stayed 3, just wandering around taking it in. For a westerner it was unique and fun.

We went there in the evening. First we had a tea in one of the hundreds of tea houses along the river . Don't remember the name: nice view but the tea wasn't good and rather high price. It is funny to roam around all the bridge and small streets. Some nice restaurants are there too

Small quarter of Tianjin, but very nice and full of people shouting, some singing. There was like a jam session in a musical instruments shop between neighbour shop owners, very funny!
