A bit touristy, but a nice beach

Given that this is touristic and not an island you have to yourself this is a really good place. Swimming may not be too easy due to the waves but on the other hand light surfing is an option. They have very keen coast guards, sun beds for rent and a sweet combo of local and western visitors - and... More

Reminded me of the crowded tourist beaches (in Europe) with souvenir shops along the beach and restaurants. If you ignore that, it's a very nice milieu and you can enjoy a nice drink with a view from one of the terrace restaurants. However, if you prefer solitude and less people with no shops, I recommend the beach further to the... More

We love this beach and have been on it every day for last 3 weeks. Lovely views all around and Good swimming, but surf can be interesting some days. Plenty of lifeguards along this beach which is all sand and over 1km long

There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and hawkers as well as bathers, snorklers and sunbathers from around the world. It is considered a dry area except at the licensed resorts. Beach is clean and ocean water luke warm. Watch for under tow during high surf.

Not our favourite beach. Its very touristy, with lines of sunbeds and umbrellas. If you want solitude and natural beauty i dont think this beach provides it. Thronged with tourist shops and restaurants, its not picture postcard but the kids might like it.

Please look at the review of the Malabar restaurant I must have pressed wrong. The review is for all 3 Kovalam beaches - not the restaurant.
