Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The history museum of Sighisoara, created by Dr. Joseph Bacon in 1899 is functioning inside the clock tower of Sighisoara. Entrance fee is 16 RON / adult and you can climb the tower up to the observation platform and you can take some great pics of the city.
As you climb the levels you will see exhibits ranging from the times before the Roman period till the modern ages, you will learn about the guilds and their contribution to the development of medieval Sighisoara and to the modern times and on the last floor before getting out to the balcony/observation platform- you will see the exhibit section dedicated to Hermann Oberth (he was one of the teachers of Werner Von Braun and had a direct contribution on the building of V-2 rockets during WWII) one of the fathers of rocket science and pioneer in that field.
Overall a very nice museum - well worth the entrance fee.

It's located in the Clock Tower and it's a nice museum to visit. You can learn more about the history of the city and admire the displays. You can also see how the clock mechanism works.

Buy your tickets to the other two museums (the torture chamber and the armory) from the booth at the History Museum. You get a discount for buying all three at once. You'll do a bit of climbing, since the museum occupies 5 floors, but it's well worth the trouble. Photographs are allowed as long as you buy a pass.

Fascinating museum up and down the narrow and winding steps of the clock tower. Also a torture museum in keeping with the interests of Sighisoara's most famous resident.

We had the ticket that included the visit at the History Museum, the Torture Room and the Weapon Museum.
The History Museum is a very interesting place where you can see very ancient things, from the pre-Dacian era.
The inconvenient is the number of "not so friendly" stairs and the fact that they are used for both climbing and descending.
Once on top terrace of the Clock Tower, which is the main attraction of the city, you can admire the city.
Next to the tower, there is the Torture Room where you can see elements of torture used in the past.
The Weapons Museum, is in a third location; it is formed by 4 rooms where weapons and interesting stories are exhibited.
The staff is professional, friendly and give you all the information you need in all 3 locations.
It's a must visiting it.

This place was so fascinating that I took 81 pictures. Where else can you get great views over a medieval town and ancient gynecological instruments that make you thankful you didn't live in the 18th century? From tiny 15th century homeopathic vials to gorgeous wooden cabinets and clock works, we spent 50 minutes exploring. If you want the place to yourself, get there at 8:55 and be first in line when they open at 9:00 (closed Mondays, 10 on Saturdays and Sundays, 15 lei). Head straight up to the top (most of the stairs are not too intimidating and they are in bite-sized sections with railings, very doable). We entered just before a tour group of 35, but they didn't join us at the top until 17 minutes after 9. We then worked our way down, exploring each room of artifacts. There is English but not an overwhelming amount. It's just enough for people like us who aren't big museum goers.

The museum is pretty unexciting and has very little to offer. Thankfully it's in the clock tower so you have nice views and the inner workings of the clock to see. The museum was disappointing really.

Very interesting, it takes you back in time. Spend 1 hour to find out about centuries of history of Sighisoara.

It has a modest collection of stuff including surgical implements and some old tables and a door from the 16th century. Oozing with history itself and the creaky floorboards give it an eerie feel.

The Historical Centre and the ‘Down Town’ of Sighisoara are very rich in old and special buildings, where the bond between life of every day with cultural events, present every day in street or buildings, transported this unique place out of time. We can see people in various costumes , from ancient times or this times but other culture, which have a normal activity in a buildings from ancient century! The impact is huge. The Citadel has more than 10 towers with two gates: first entrance – The Clock Tower an second – The Taylor’s Tower. From the begining13th The Monastery Church. in a gothic style and The Rape Maker’s Tower, which belongs to the old fortification on top of the hill are through most old buildings from here. The History Museum located in The Clock Tower, displays collections from diferent historic ages, crafts and guilds and the visitors also can admire the mechanism of the clock , with the figurines. depicting pagan gods that symbolized the days of the week,, The cultural events in this wonderful historical place are in development all the year, diversity of music festivals - from folk, blues, classic, band so on or medieval theatre and conquests , etnic and folk festival and one special : The European Meeting of Clowns. In Sighisoara, The Clock from Tower theTime is flowing in both direction: in past and in future! EvaChiser
