Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I feel like this place gets a bit overlooked in that it's still an active vehicle and pedestrian gate to the walled city. It is utterly massive. It also has an arched bridge that connects the two sides of the gate forming a sort of light archway prior to the thick arched main doorway. When you walk through, don't forget to look up the space in which the portcullis once was. You can see all the way to the top.

The Puerta del Alcazar is a fabulous entry gate to the city of Avila. Easy to overlook among all the other amazing sights in Avila, but well worth some time and photos.

My experience with castle isn't very extensive but this gate is something else with not only the size but the bridge from one tower to the other

Practically the main gate, for access to the city of Avila, through the ancient medieval walls.

It was great. It was a one-day visit. We could see a lot of things. The train journey is correct. The gastronomic offer is good. The monuments are worth it. I would repeat.

Terrible service, a shame to be waiting 1.40 minutes, they only served us the first courses. They serve other people who have arrived later in our face and we go with children

What a beautiful gateway to the old town and the start of the shopping area within. The gate is imposing and worth a visit.
