We stayed the afternoon in this area and beyond to sunset. The access is a winding scenic road through quaint villages, and quite safe. The sunset was quite spectacular in the November, and I was able to capture silhouettes of castle and the surrounding mountains; and as the darkness descended, the starry sky with a lighted fort. If you decide... More

This is fort is nice and old. Reaching there should have a good car, at least a SUV car. The drive is very good and little adventures since there is proper road to reach there.

Drive out from the main road in Fujairah to discover this amazing place. The castle is perched on a hill, surrounded by the village buildings that it was originally intended to protect. Excellent restoration. Plus an interesting drive through the mountains to reach. Worth making the effort to visit

We arrived reasonably early in the morning. The guide came out to welcome us and let us into the compound. He showed us around the main buildings of the house and the fort, letting us climb up the steps and ladders to higher floors, and explaining about how people used each of the rooms. We gave him a tip before... More

If you are in Fujairah this is a must stop. A part of local history dating back to the Iron age, also the view from the top is amazing. I recommend hiking up the ridge adjacent to the castle as well, even bringing a picnic and enjoy the view of the mountains and the sea.

We always take visitors here, its a nice drive out to the countryside area of Fujairah. Theres usually a guy around who can tell you what the places are, give him a tip for his time. A very pleasant hour or two can be spent here.

The place is located in a pretty remote area away from the usual hustle and noise that you find in UAE. Located right between the hills, its a great place to spend a couple of quiet hours! Recommended.

Castle is no doubt well maintained, larger than other forts in the vicinity however the access road to this castle is the real fun. It goes within the mountains and on a rocky off road track.

The mountain terrain makes for a pleasant trip out there with the road following a wadi up the valley. I haven't had much experience with rural UAE so the experience proved to be somewhat novel. The castle itself is much the same as other forts in the area, although the setting is far superior. The strategic importance of the fortification... More
