Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful urban beach, the main one in the city. If you want to contemplate and enjoy its beauty without too many bathers, go on a weekday and out of season. It's calm for the bath. Even during the season, as we move further towards Praia das Dunas, the number of people becomes a little calmer.

Water is very cold, beach with clean and transparent water, with a long strip of sand, close to the fort the beach is calm, the further from the fort the more waves and choppy water, kiosks along the entire beach, but the cost of meals They are the same in all of them and yes the food there is expensive.
It's very windy and that's why we always have a lot of sand on our bodies and our things.
I recommend going up to the Fort, the landscape there is beautiful

Very nice beach, especially if you visit it outside of high season. It is a wide strip of white sand and if you walk a little you can find quieter spaces. If you take an umbrella or chairs, it is advisable to talk to the “local waiter” to see the conditions of consumption in the beach arms.

Like all beaches in Cabo Frio, it is very beautiful. What spoils it are the tents that require a minimum consumption of 160 reais to sit under the umbrellas. Furthermore, they occupy the entire strip of sand, eliminating space for those who just want to sit on the sand or bring their own umbrella. I stayed on the beach in front of Port-au-Prince, where Barraca da Cris dominates the strip of sand and I even witnessed fights with the tent next door. It used to be on Cacau's pizza, but now it also requires this absurd consumption plus 10% from the waiter. The Cabo Frio City Council's inspection of postures always takes place at the same time and the inspectors are all in the car, they don't even bother to step on the sand. After the car passes, that's when the people in the tents lie down and roll around. I recommend looking for traders who are not linked to these stalls, but who are unfortunately massacred by them. I recommend Edna's Pizza, a super polite and humble elderly couple who just want to work in peace. People from Cris' tent still put an umbrella in front of the table we were at. The authorities need to do something about this.

We went on Easter Sunday, the beach was bursting with people and was very dirty. My children got hurt on several occasions playing in the sand because of the trash. We parked the rental car and it was full of drunk and drugged people charging 20 reais. We came back from the beach and they had given me a metered parking ticket and it was impossible to pay for it because all the machines were broken, there the rags were fighting to help people with those machines but in reality they wanted to screw them. They told me that I downloaded an application but foreigners cannot use it because you have to enter the CPF. Cloudy weather all the time, I don't recommend it for families. I will never return to Cabo Frio

We had a bad experience on this beach. We stayed in front of the apart hotel porto principiopie. At the time of Paula's tent. We arrived already being approached by several people offering us tent. Our idea was to enjoy the beach for a short time because we would return on the same day. We asked the cost of the tents and were not informed. They said if I ate some snack I ⁇ 't pay the rent. After an hour sitting about to leave came the menu with the cheapest snack costing 230 reais. The rent of the tent without consumption was 180 reais. There was no conversation with the attendant that with responsibility in the attendance we had no choice. We paid a lot against taste 180 reais for the tents. I recommend you take your tents and chairs so you don't fall to the mercy of this terrible service.

I don't know if it was the time of year or the time I went, but despite it being a beautiful beach it was impossible to enjoy all of its beauty because of the absurd number of people. Sitting on the beach and having a calm afternoon is impossible, but if you come with a large number of people with speakers and a lot of willpower then you might have a better experience than me.
The water is beautiful and the landscape even more so, but it is extremely crowded!

Super white sand, transparent water, wide and long beach, in the center of the city. But the smell is unbearable! Especially in the middle. You can't be there, you go to the extremes (dune beach on the right and close to the fort on the left) you don't feel that much. I don't know the reason.
In the middle of the beach the shore has blackened water. At the ends it is a little brown, but it is due to the prescience of brown algae. It is very clean there.
Very disappointed.

Amazing experience. We went in March and had sunny days with beautiful sea. The color of the water is enchanting and it's worth going with children as the area is extensive. The seagulls are a show in themselves. At night, walking along the seafront did not create a feeling of insecurity in the area close to Praça das Águas.

The central beach of Cabo Frio, with crystal clear waters, is the further from Forte de São Matheus, the stronger the waves. For young children, I recommend staying very close to the fort. Walking about 25 minutes to the beach, you arrive at Praia das Dunas, very similar, but with less infrastructure,
