A lovely bushwalk to an amazing not so often visited waterfall. If you start the walk towards the upper mountain it takes around 1.5 hrs return or from the lower mountain it takes about double that time, so be careful to select the correct carpark....More

Other walkers told us that the falls were well worth the climb out and they were. The walk in is fairly easy however the steps out may be an effort for some. It was not only the falls that were the highlight for us but...More

I live at the bottom of the Mountain Road and have walked this track in all seasons. The bridge at the beginning of the track is beautiful after a winter snowfall. Just across the bridge is a mountain cedar (Libocedrus bidwillii, Kaikawaka) with its trunk...More

This walk, to a spectacular waterfall, is on a beautifully built and beautifully maintained trail. The first part goes through woods and goes fairly gently uphill until you get to a large big that you cross on a long, sinuous, boardwalk. If it is windy,...More

This is a fair bit of a hike (60 minutes return). But the reward is definitely worth it! The falls are gorgeous and the setting is stunning. However, be warned that the water is cold and fast moving and the rocks are slippery. Please exercise...More

Even though it was just above freezing and wet, this was a pleasant and easy walk. The tracks are in good condition. There was one short section where they were doing trackwork, but it didn't affect us. The mist added to the atmosphere of the...More

We did this walk in May before the main snow had started, so there wasn't a lot of water in the stream / waterfall itself, although it was still very pretty. The walk itself wasn't difficult, although there are hills and some high steps. A...More

Very nice scenery, especially of Mt Ruapehu, which was nicely reflected in the pools of water along the boardwalk section. A reasonable standard of fitness is required, especially on the return, which is uphill and comprises of several hundred steps! The walk is very well...More

Went as a group with the Ruapehu Writer's convention. Got shuttle there and back. Beautiful scenery of mountain on way up. The walk needs a certain amount of fitness. Not suitable for young children. Great photo opportunity. Stairs are deep down and up.
