Great walk through the woods and over the Heath to the falls. Walk has about 300 steps up and down so be prepare for stretching the legs. The walk overall is easy if you can handle steps and there is a board walk across the...More

We made the mistake of hiking through the OLD Blythe Track but it was a gentle gradient that climbed steadily and got your heart rate up nicely. The track wasn't particularly level and we had to jump across muddy parts often. It took us 4...More

Most of the way up the Ohakune mountain road, this is a very nice walk, with trees so miniaturised by altitude, they could have been bonsai. The falls at the end were actually a trickle, but it was lovely eating our picnic lunch surrounded by...More

This is a great 1hr round trip with a peaceful romantic setting for lunch. The diversity of the forest and well marked route makes this an easy route for any age.

I thoroughly recommend a drive up the Ohakune Mountain Road outside ski season. It is a lovely drive, meandering alongside the pretty river for a good portion its length before climbing up into the desolate, beautiful volcanic region. Wonderful views are to be had from...More

The whole track is taking about 1.5 hours and is going on a very well formed track right to the falls. Mountain beech and kaikawaka trees are forming most of the forest, and part of the track is going along very spectacular swampy tussock terrace....More

Took us 1.5hr return. Including walking right up to the falls. The board walk over the exposed tussock land was great and looming mountain view was stunning.

Nice mix of terrain, including forest and boardwalk through a wetland type area. Some of the steps were obviously laid by giants. Impressive waterfall, but be careful if you cross the river to get closer because it's harder to get back across! :)

This walk had it all, native bush, stunning mountain views & a waterfall at the end. The boardwalk across the marsh lands made it easier & there is even a bench to sit on & rest & take in the views of Ruapehu, stunning with...More
