Great day in Bora Bora with Yanni and Richard! On our recent cruise stop to Bora Bora we were fortunate to spend the day on the lagoon with Maohi Nui. Yanni and Richard arrived early to pick us up and start the day. The tour took us to various snorkeling sites to see sharks, rays and many tropical fish. Yanni and or Richard were in the water with us to point out the undersea life.
In the boat, our hosts serenaded us the entire ride which really added to the experience. We had delicious BBQ lunch with many dishes on a private moto that was a stunning location. Our hosts performed a fire dance after lunch before taking us to a final stop on a soft sand bar and back to the pier.

The experience of the day was fabulous and I would highly recommend. I am giving 5 stars for the tour. Communication rating would be lower. The opportunity for improvement for this company is in ease of booking and in email communication. Response times were slow (as in weeks). Others on our cruise wanted to book with them but due to lack of response booked other excursions.

If you can get this tour booked you will love the day with Maohi Nui!

We did this 9 years ago with Patrick (now retired), and its still the same, funky, rustic experience it was then. Totally locally owned by Polynesians. Stopped 6 times for snorkling on the 7 hour 'full-day' experience which took 8 hours with almost constant live music!
Their private motu is nice, the bathrooms still have weak water pressure, and the food, particularly the tuna was super. Jonni and Richard were great. The only problem with this company is that the person responsible for reservations never gets back to you.

My wife and I booked a 1/2 day lagoon tour. We were picked up at our over the water bungalow by our guide, Scilly, and immediately went looking for the elusive manta ray.

On the way, Scilly explained that we would look for the manta ray, then spend time with stingrays and sharks and end the morning with a trip to the coral garden. Scilly kept to his schedule and we visited each area and were able to stay until we were ready to move on. It took us awhile, but we were able to find 4 manta rays. Scilly was a gracious guide who knew the area, the culture and the sea life. He was thoughtful, engaging, and humorous.

In addition to Scilly’s great work as a guide I dealt with a young woman on the phone and dealt with the founder, Patrick, via email multiple times. Both of them were very helpful, responsive and knowledgeable. They were fantastic in their assistance on the administrative side of booking the trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Maohi Nui and almost scheduled a second Lagoon tour three days later! I would recommend to anyone coming to Bora Bora to book with this group.

The 3/4-day Lagoon and Lunch tour with Maohi Nui was a great cruise ship independent shore excursion from the port of Vaitape, Bora-Bora. Their website was excellent and Facebook page photos were very helpful. Email correspondence with Vaitiare was very helpful, and we appreciated her patience since there were so many changes when the island reopened after COVID.
We arrived on shore early via one of the first tenders, walked to the right to the covered pavilion, checked in with Julie, and paid in US $, so we did not have to change currency.
We were divided into groups, and boarded the unique outrigger boat with padded bench seats along the sides, a roof, adjustable side curtains to protect from rain and a ladder to get in and out.
We saw dolphins as we rode by the cruise ship, and then stopped at 4 snorkel stops. At the first stop we snorkeled over a school of spotted eagle rays, the second over a big manta ray, the third with black tip sharks and stingrays, and the fourth over a coral garden with reef fish and colorful clams burrowed in the coral. Then we went to their private island/motu for a traditional Polynesian lunch with suckling pig cooked in the ground, plus chicken, taro, manioc (tapioca), breadfruit, plantains and raw fish in coconut milk. We also enjoyed Patrick's cultural demonstration of the cooking techniques and fire dancing, with drumming and ukulele.

Julie was an excellent tour guide – very nice, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, helpful, interesting and energetic. Captains Mata and Aea were skilled and entertaining musicians, and also very helpful, nice and energetic, and they adjusted the itinerary to accommodate the weather, crowds and snorkelers’ needs.

All in all, our ¾ day Tour with Maohi Nui (formerly known as Patrick’s) was a fun, active, interesting and educational day that was great for a first time visit to Bora Bora.

This trip was for our 40th Anniversary, and we booked a Honeymoon Day excursion with Maohi Nui to occur on our actual Anniversary date, October 18th, 2020. We made the reservations easily on line, and all our questions were answered. We were picked up by a wonderfully decorated boat at our hotel, and taken to the Motu, where the site was decorated as well beautifully. Our vow renewal was perfect, and more than we could have ever hoped for. Our guides, Teno, and Sammie, took pictures and a video of our renewal ceremony. Priest Akila performed a meaningful ceremony. There were musicians there, and 8 dancers as well, with Bob and me as the honored couple. It was so lovely; we will never forget it. After the 25 minute ceremony, we were taken to a different location on the motu for a Polynesian Feast... deep pit cooked; we watched them uncover the delicious pork, breadfruit, chicken, and fresh lobster. We then sat with our feet in the Lagoon facing Mt. Otemanu. We had a leisurely lunch, then we were off for an afternoon of snorkling with Teno, and Sammie. We went outside of the lagoon into the ocean; breathtaking. We returned to the lagoon, and spent 4 hours exploring the lagoon, stopping to snorkel often. We saw sea turtles, rays, and many tropical fish, coral, and giant clams. All and All, a day we will never forget. We have many pictures, a video of our ceremony, and a lifetime of memories from the perfect day. If you want to renew your vows, or celebrate your lives together, this is the perfect way to do so.

This was without any doubt the very best excursion we’ve ever taken! Anywhere in the entire world.
Rays, sharks, a magnificent lagoon, a killer feast on a motu. Topped off by an incredible show.
My goodness, it just never seemed to stop.
We are SOOOOOO happy we booked this tour.
And, we were lucky enough to have drawn Aea as our guide. Helluva uke player and entertainer.

It was our second time to organize a private tour with Patrick in Bora Bora and he never disappoints. this tour is very famous with cruise passengers for good reason. We booked 1.5 years in advance and filled all 4 outrigger boats within 2 months of booking. The best way to spend a day in Bora Bora.
Last time we were there over night and also took their 4x4 tour and it was also EXCELLENT. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

I was a bit worried when our boat was late -- the original boat we were supposed to take broke down -- but we had a great time anyway! It was Christmas Day so the guide brought his wife, daugher and grandson along. His stories, songs and answers to our questions made the day. And then we got in the water with sharks, rays, and coral. The shark stop and coral stop were fine, but it was the time with the sting rays that made everyone smile. If you're trying to choose an excursion, don't miss this 3 hour adventure with Maohi Nui .. and definitely don't forget to bring your underwater camera!

We arrived to bora bora via cruise ship and were tendered in to the port greeted by great people and fun music. We found our tour guide which we had booked on our own for 16 people which included 2 children. We left to venture out to the seas on a lovely boat that sat 12 people so we were divided into 2 groups , our first stop was to swim with the sharks in open waters. Yes a little intimidating at first but once we got to the location our skipper made us feel. Sry safe. So in we jumped off the side of the boat and yes they were there under us swimming . Lemon and black tip sharks. So much fun and exciting. After about 40 min, in the warm waters we were taken to another spot where we could stand in the water and had the great opportunity to swim not only with sharks but also stingrays. Again our guide made it so much fun and feeding the sea life so they would come to us and let us play with them.

Then off we went to look at some of the sites around the island of course including the huts over the water and the amazing beaches.

Then again we were taken to another spot this time a coral reef , I have never experienced so many different types of fish and coral. Our guide let us swim as long as we wanted . No rushing for these amazing activities.
After we were done he took us to show the rest of this beautiful island and explained a lot of the history of French Polynesia, he was then so kind to take us to the prettiest and best beach

We booked through maohinuiborabora@gmail.com
