- LYNDA TMontreal, Canada198 contributionsDefinitely a mustBeautiful beach but need shoes because when you first get in , lots of coral. Some trees for shade. Beach is very long with some restaurants on the beach. Definitely a beautiful water colour and warm. A breakwater so swimming is calm.Visited December 2022Written 10 December 2022
- Trypp AdamsMinneapolis, Minnesota9,575 contributionsI was expecting moreThere isn't a huge beach here... it's a pretty narrow stip of sand that is public and a great spot to enjoy the sun and get in the water. If you are looking for endless sand, Bora Bora is probably the wrong spot. Great spot to enjoy the sunset.Visited December 2022Travelled soloWritten 12 January 2023
- Ulik3Edmonton, Canada142 contributionsGreat place to spend a day.Loved this beach. Spent almost every day here during the week on Bora Bora. Good snorkeliing. Saw some nice fish, albeit most were small. Saw stingrays daily and even saw a couple of turtles further out from beach. Clean white sand beach. Excellent for sunbathing. Lots of places on and around beach to eat.Visited January 2023Written 4 March 2023
- cyberaamaaSeattle, Washington19 contributionsBeachy Keen! The Plage Publique Matira entrance is directly across from the Intercontinental Resort and isn't always open when the sign says it will be. It is a good place for snorkeling. There are picnic tables, as well as a huge covered area. There is also a lovely modern, clean restroom with showers. If the gate is locked, it is easy to access the beach a little ways down the main road.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 November 2023

If you travel past the Beach club eatery to the dark blue water you will find wonderful coral heads with abundant fish and even snorkeled with a turtle - well worth the walk in the direction away to the west - absolutely MAGIC

It's the perfect beach if you like very very large swimming pools.
There are also a few places where you can eat on that spectacular beach.

Big stretch of beautiful white beach goes out quite far before getting deep. It is near several good restaurants like Lucky House and the yacht Club, Clear warm water and as always some small fish swimming around.

What’s the best month to visit please, rather not come if there is a wet/rainy season

We were there mid November. We had sunny weather in the 80's. There is about a 50/50 chance of rain during this month. October is probably one of the best months to visit.

Beautiful beach. Any chair or umbrella rentals?

Yes, there is a great little snack/restaurant (with good food and service, by the way) that rents chairs and lounges. I'm not sure they had umbrellas, but they may. It is located near the Matira Beach Hotel, right next to a handy parking area.

We didn't as we stay five days in Bora Bora, but I do believe you can if you are coming in on a cruise ship they offer an Excursion I do believe. Enjoy Paradise there's nowhere on earth like it

How far is the beach from the main dock? Is it walkable?

Actually it’s quite far by foot, almost 10 km. You’ll need to take a taxi or rent a bike from Avis rental car just across the street from the dock.

Olá!
Para se deslocar do Hotel Sofitel Manara em Bora Bora , até essa praia de Matira, é possível fazer a pé ou tem que se contratar um transfer? Se positivo pode me passar os valores do transferes por gentileza?
