Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This museum is staffed by Bisbee natives who know a lot about the town and what built it. There is an entry fee, but very reasonable for what you see. You can spend a little or a lot of time depending on how much you want to read of the many, many historical items. If you want to learn about Bisbee and how it came to be, this is a required stop.

We spent a little over an hour visiting the Bisbee Mining Museum. Great exhibits downstairs really brought the history of Bisbee to life. The huge bonus was the upstairs exhibits that were done in conjunction with the Smithsonian. Those were fantastic and took the overall museum to a 5 star ranking. Attendance is limited during the pandemic, so you are best off making advance reservations. We just stumbled on it and were fortunate to be able to access the exhibits during a quiet period. Very well done and friendly staff.

I am interested in history but didn't expect much from this museum tucked into a cramped space in the building that once housed the HQ of the Phelps Dodge corporation. But I was pleasantly surprised and learned a lot about copper mining, the history of Bisbee as a community, and the minerals found in the area (thanks to a special exhibit prepared with the help of the Smithsonian). Highly recommended for visitors to this fascinating town!

The women working the ticket desk is AMAZING! She is so delightful, so full of information, and so spunky. The museum is a Smithsonian Associate and full of incredible displays. The museums is very interactive and greta for children and adults! We had a group of 8 and everyone loved walking around and learning at their own pace about this incredible mining town.

If you like history, stop here and learn about the mining history of Bisbee. The docents were very friendly, and the small museum offers just enough about Bisbee's history without making you feel overwhelmed if you know what I mean. I think children would find the life-size miner statues interesting. There is also a gift shop.
We came over the 4th of July weekend, and we would probably rate them higher but it's time for them to rescind their mask policy. This is the only place in Bisbee that required us to wear a mask instead of giving us a choice. If tourists were still worried about their health they wouldn't be out.

This was on excellent museum. It was well worth the price of admission. It gives visitors a clear
idea of the story of the Copper Queen mine since
Its founding and closure in 1974. The lady at the museum did a wonderful job.

The downstairs is a nice display of the area history. The upstairs is a Smithsonian curated mineral and mining section that has stunning specimens and exhibits. The grounds are pleasant with labeled rail carts and devices, nice flowers enjoyed by lots of butterflies, some tables, and fly sculptures on the building.

Very irritating - went to Bisbee primarily to tour and enjoy this historical museum. When we arrived there was a sign on the door saying they were closed for renovation and may NEVER reopen. The website did not say anything about this.

Great displays sharing the history and growth of Bisbee and the impact of the mining of copper on the town. There is also a wonderful display of gems and minerals upstairs to visit. This is a small place and took us about an hour and a half to explore. Entrance fees were very reasonable as well.

David M.'s reply below is right on the mark. The public parking lot is a short walk from the mine itself.

You might call and check holiday schedule or even call the Copper Queen Hotel which is across the street and part of the same history of Bisbee
