A new home base
May 2021
If you've read my reviews, you know I love Sedona. You also know that I love Jerome. And now I have a new love... Historic Old Town Cottonwood and it's amazing Main Street.

Centrally located between Sedona and Jerome, and right around the corner from Historic Clarkdale and the Tuzigoot National Monument, I now believe that this is the place to stay and play in the area.

The main street is filled with cool shops, great restaurants and no less than seven wine tasting rooms. There's a Hippy Store and a hiking trail at one end and some awesome BBQ at the other! In between there's beer, wine, cocktails, shopping, and the friendly locals of Cottonwood to mingle with.

Yeah... I think this is going to be home base for all of my Verde Valley adventures going forward. Come to Old Town Cottonwood. Take a relaxing walk about and see what you think.

Love downtown cottonwood so many great places to eat!!
Mar 2021 • Couples
Love it... several great restaurants locally owned. Great vibe away from the touristy sedona area! Friendly people and of the 3 restaurants we ate while there all were quick and friendly and all excellent food! (nic’s, colt grill and tavern grill). Also several cute wine tasting places.

We stayed a night in cottonwood at an airbnb then onto sedona for the remainder. We ended up driving back to cottonwood for dining out because we liked it so much and also away from the touristy eateries in sedona that are sooo busy and hard to get into requiring reservations etc!

Cute town to drive through but except for tasting rooms and bars, little to see or do. Crowded with very few masks. We did not leave the car or the RV but just drove through a few times.

You will need to spend the whole day.

Fun to walk around and check out the shops and to stop in some of the tasting rooms. We made a day of it, hit three tasting rooms, and purchased items in three shops. Went back 3 days later to go to places we'd missed and to eat.

Great town for a day trip and spend the night!
Feb 2021 • Couples
Cottonwood AZ is an easy trip from Tucson and an even easier trip from Phoenix. Quaint “1-Street” town layout and you can walk the whole thing in a day. That said, there are lots of wine tasting rooms (love Stronghold) and places to eat (Nic’s is amazing) and stay (Tavern Hotel) so you probably should spend the night after a day of fun!

Rustic taste of small town Arizona
Nov 2020
A little funky, but then it is a small town in Arizona. There are a number of good restaurants and if you like dive bars don’t miss Katus Kates.

A hidden gem near Sedona
Nov 2020
While looking around Cottonwood we saw a sign leading to “Historic Old Town Cottonwood”. Thinking it would be an area of museums, we were amazed to find a really great area of wineries, restaurants and very eclectic shops. We visited the area twice during our vacation. If visiting Sedona be sure to take the short drive to Historic Old Town, it’s well worth your time.
