We (couple and a 20 year old daughter) stayed for 2 nights in the tent camp. We enjoyed the 40 degree + heat in mid December 2016 with beautiful sunrises, breakfast made on the gasskottel and sunsets with wood braais in evenings and ice cold glasses of wine! The outside showers are the best! The valley was breath taking and... More

We camped for 2 nights in Camdeboo National Park, the camp grounds are nice and neat and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a wide variety of animals to see but the game viewing area is small and close to fences so there is no real sense of Wilderness. The Desolation Valley view is spectacular and we... More

We spent the morning at the valley of desolation and then went to the Game Viewing side once it had cooled down as well as watching the sunset over the dam! It was beautiful. We had great sightings of everything including the Bat Eared Foxes!

The Trek South Africa team and I came to Camdeboo as part of our project with Discover Africa and the location completely blew me away. The Valley of Desolation is one of the most spectacular places in South Africa to visit, especially if you love landscape, incredible rock formations and the quiet... Standing at the top of the lookout and... More

Great place to visit, Graffe Reinet is a nice tidy South African town. If you are a 4x4 fan then there are plenty of tracks for you go on.

The tented accommodation is perfect, with everything you could possibly need provided. All you need to bring along is the food, something to get the fire going and you're set for a wonderful time. Just keep an eye on the pesky monkeys who steal anything tasty the moment you turn your back, or even right in front of you! The... More

The Valley of Desolation is truly a magnificent sight to behold. Take your time here, spend some hours soaking up the splendour and allow some time to enjoy one or more of the many hikes on offer. I would recommend a visit at sunset too, but allow plenty of time to establish the right spot to watch the sun go... More

We entered from the Valley of Desolation side, and had a slow drive from there to the other side and back again. The water level of the dam was very low, so the animals were a long way away from the viewpoints! Lots of animals on the plains to make up for it. The buffaloes were in hiding.....
