The Trek South Africa team and I came to Camdeboo as part of our project with Discover Africa and the location completely blew me away. The Valley of Desolation is one of the most spectacular places in South Africa to visit, especially if you love landscape, incredible rock formations and the quiet... Standing at the top of the lookout and... More

Great place to visit, Graffe Reinet is a nice tidy South African town. If you are a 4x4 fan then there are plenty of tracks for you go on.

The tented accommodation is perfect, with everything you could possibly need provided. All you need to bring along is the food, something to get the fire going and you're set for a wonderful time. Just keep an eye on the pesky monkeys who steal anything tasty the moment you turn your back, or even right in front of you! The... More

The Valley of Desolation is truly a magnificent sight to behold. Take your time here, spend some hours soaking up the splendour and allow some time to enjoy one or more of the many hikes on offer. I would recommend a visit at sunset too, but allow plenty of time to establish the right spot to watch the sun go... More

We entered from the Valley of Desolation side, and had a slow drive from there to the other side and back again. The water level of the dam was very low, so the animals were a long way away from the viewpoints! Lots of animals on the plains to make up for it. The buffaloes were in hiding.....

We read about the park, but the write ups did no justice to this increadible place. This is so different to what we know in terms of eco systems and natural flora - it was so beautiful and extraordinary! It is just outside town and there is a cash only entrance fee. The man at the gate was super friendly... More

Spent a night in the park on the way through to Addo from Durban. I have previously stayed in Graaf Reniet town itself and the location makes for a good overnight stop from Joburg through to Cape Town or to the Eastern Cape. However some serious lengths of road construction along the way. The park itself is beautiful and has... More

Breath taking views for miles and miles. Undisturbed nature. Far away from noise pollution and the downfall of man. Very clean and safe. This is where I have always went to to find inner peace. For me, I have always seen myself sitting there one day, decades from now, retired, sitting on one of the hill tops and writing a... More
