We spent 5 hours inthe museum - and it could have been longer!! So much to learn, so much to feel, so well presentend. A MUST for everyone who has a heart for South Africa to deepen the knowledge of where the country came from, what it went through and were it is planning to go.

A must visit during your stay in Johannesburg. Striking reflection of the days of segregation in S.Africa. Lots of information and you can easily spend a full day in the museum. We only spent a couple of hours, and barely scratched the surface. Some of the exhibits are horrifying - quite disturbing and hard to believe that man can treat... More

South Africa is so full of history. This museum is great eye opener. Very detailed accounts complimented with video slides in the auditorium. Well worth the visit. I highly recommend

We visited the Apartheid Museum as part of a day trip on the Hop On Hop Off Bus trip around Johannesburg (very worthwhile doing). We spent around 2 hours in the museum and did not see everything. The museum displays an amazing amount of history from both the 'White' side and the 'Black' side starting from the early 1900s right... More

I believe this it the most interesting place to visit in Johannesburg. It tells all the apartheid history through photos, videos and exposed objects. Worth the time.

To really appreciate the recent history of South Africa and the impact Nelson Mandela had in the transition this is a must do destination. You could easily spend all day here taking in all the displays, films, photos etc etc

This museum provides a wonderful overview of the origins and horrors of Apartheid. There are many videos that show the horrid conditions black South Africans endured at the hands of the Afrikans. It is hard to believe that it was in force until 1994. This is a must-do when visiting Johannesburg.

There is so much to learn about the people, history and culture of South Africa. I suggest you start at the museum and let it lead you to other attractions. The history of the struggle is told without apology and candidly. There are videos, historical displays, artifacts, maps and so much more to tell this unique story of struggle and... More
