This is a very emotional experience. You will learn all you need to know about Apartheid, Mandela's part in it and everything that happened. This is on par with the Holocaust Museum. Even though it was emotionally disturbing, I learned a lot and am so glad I went.

This place was truly a masterpiece. It will haunt me for years. It is an architectural piece of art, with the design and layout and structure mirroring the content in eerie ways, with its use of stone, barbed wire, steel, concrete, and lighting. The exhibits are engaging and well documented. It masterfully uses a variety of media--sculpture, video, printed word,... More

I've been to the Apartheid museum numerous times and always find it interesting. They have a new section focusing on Nelson Mandela and have a art gallery. Students get discount! If you have the time go and visit the museum. We took 3 hours and didn't read everything.

This teaches about the real South Africa. Definitely a must see when traveling to SA. A real eye opener about how people have lived and still live to some extent in this part of the world.

Went to this museun as part of the excellent red bus tour. To do it justice you need about three hours. Easily displayed with good directions. Excellent but at times harrowing

Well worth the price of admission if you want to learn much about Apartheid. As an American, I'd heard a lot about the term but never truly understood it. I now have a much greater appreciation for the recent history of South Africa. The downside is that 2 of my teenagers grew bored after an hour and I needed a... More

Worth a visit as one of the better attractions in Johannesburg. Very confronting right from the start where you are randomly assigned as white or non white and have to enter under that particular door. Very informative and well designed. Parts of it are outside going between exhibits etc so bring an umbrella if raining.

At the time was this was the number one tripadvisor Joburg attraction. I think its good that visitors to South Africa understand the history of the place and much of this is covered. But, I found the presentation boring . There's a lot of reading to do, the audiovisual quality is poor and if busy (it was not when we... More

Was very moved to see this well documented & well kept museum. The history-recreated parts were also interesting

A lot of informatión and a beautiful museum. I was nor very happy because is a little caotic and sometimes you are lost. You have not a general idea of many questions. I had to look for many facts in gogle.
