This museum is free, and just as well. The exhibits are poorly set out, there does not seem to be any chronological order, and the best part of the whole place is the 100 year old Market building itself. Disappointing, on the whole

There is no charge for this museum. It felt like we were the only people there...sounds good right? Not so much. It was like a huge warehouse that had a few thing to see. It wasn't bad, just not good. The geology museum is here...More

Some of the things on display were a little random but we enjoyed our visit. However the Museum at Wits Uni is much better I love that museum.

Could use some modern multimedia / interactive exhibits. Gives a decent history of Johannesburg. I've been a few times, mainly for the temporary exhibitions which have been excellent.

Never seen a museum that feels more like a collection of junk than a museum with a purpose. Why is it called museum africa if whats on show its more of a collection of random things without a purpose

Take time out and experience the past and get a glance of history, heritage and the evolution of this wonderful country. This will really give you an idea of the diversity and cultures of South Africa.

I enjoyed the museum, and was fasinated by the different cultures, but felt very one sided and found difficulty seeing the whole of the white interaction, mainly the others.

Was okay. Free entrance. Could have been better as looked jaded. It is a huge place but there were only about 5 things to see.

I was disappointed in this museum because firstly there was no overall plan of the exhibits; secondly there seemed to arbitary exhibits in various areas with connection; there were many exhibits unfinished or in various stages of refurbishment; there was a general feel of neglect...More
