My first view of the "big 5" here in South Africa. It's a decent zoo, but this is lots of construction going on right now. Should be more exciting when it's finished. Hike along the paths to see the lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants, monkes... and...More

Travel advisory just save your money. This zoo is seriously depleted of basic sanitation and maintenance needs. There were many more empty cages or enclosures than those with animals. I walked here from my hotel .4 mile, and that also was an eye opener. All...More

Had a great day at this zoo. Animal enclosures were animal friendly and we could get close to rhinos and giraffes which was a pleasure. It's a good place to take a picnic as it is laid out with plenty of benches. The hop off...More

Although this isn't the best zoo I've been too, we still enjoyed our day out. Wish we had been more prepared and brought a picnic as there are some lovely spots to eat at. We ate at the restaurant and it was nice, nothing special...More

Although some of the animals are looking a little tired and some of the enclosures are sadly just sitting empty, we thoroughly enjoyed our day here. We had visited the Pretoria zoo a week earlier and definitely found Joburg a better experience. The multi-parking structure...More

Great place for a family day, with so much to do you can literally spend the whole day there, the animals of the amazon were a highlight for the adults

A good and big zoo. Animals are in quite large areas. Almost every type of animal can be seen. There are fast food offers and a small park for the kids. Recommended for a nice day with family.

Amazing experience !! One of the best Johannesburg has to offer. This is a fantastic way to spend the day with lots to see and do. Easy to get around if you hire a golf cart so less walking as it get can tiring.

We truly enjoyed this very large zoo. It is centrally located in Johannesburg and of course they have refreshments so you can spend the day there or at least half the day. It is well laid out and you won’t miss anything from the different...More

Having given my soon to be 13 year old the option of venues and outings for the day, we eventually settled on the Zoo. Finding the Zoo, parking and entrance was all simple and straight forward, obtaining a map of the zoo, positions and where...More

Hi Ruth Just called to find out for you - there do NOT have the golf cart tours available anymore but do have wheelchairs for hire (R100 per day). Hope this helps.

No, not possible. To interact with baby lions you should go to Lion Park.

At the main entrance there might be cameras but we entered through the back entrance. The security and cashiers there were friendly and profesional.
