Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There were 5 of us that went on the day tour of Soweto & Joburg. Mike (guide) & Thami (driver) were exceptional! We only had the day for the tour since we were on a connecting flight home in the late evening. Mike sat in the seats by us and it felt like we were in someone's living room listening to someone tell us the tale of Soweto & Johannesburg. Since Mike grew up in Soweto we enjoyed hearing about his experiences too. We went to many places and learned so much during our time with Mike. We topped off the evening in the very cool Maboneng area where we actually went to "The Living Room"! Beautiful view of a wonderful City!

Janet and a friend spent Monday the 9th on your Soweto tour. They had the most incredible experience, thanks to Ngugi and his driver. The energy and sights of Soweto were outstanding, we would recommend everyone to use KDA to experience this fascinating part of South Africa!

This is a tour everyone should do when arriving in Joberg. Mike was amazing and gave so much information about past and present Joberg. We also saw many areas of the city. The best meal of my two week trip was a local bbq. Meet so many beautiful people of Soweto doing incredible things in the local community.

KDA booked a half day Soweto tour with our guide, Mike. It was a wonderful, personalized tour that gave us a picture of the diversity of Soweto. Highlights included the youth centre in Kliptown, a visit to Percy's home, Hector Pieterson Museum and the visit to Nelson Mandela's house. Mike is very knowledgeable and provided insightful explanations of history, sociology and politics.

My wife and I are South Africans who were hosting french visitors who wanted to visit Soweto. My wife and I decided to join them and selected KDA Travel and Tours.
Our guide Mike, was wonderful. He took us to Mandela's Houghton home which significantly has no electrified fencing and then to Constitution Hill, FNB stadium and then on to Soweto. We visited so many interesting parts of Soweto including Mandela's matchbox home in Vilakazi street,a shebeen,Winnie Mandela's current home as well as a visit to an informal settlement aka a squatter camp. It was very interesting and humbling to see how these people eke out a daily living, and to meet extraordinary people like Mo who spearheads the Kliptown Youth Project, What an inspiration!
Mike was the perfect guide. He is from Soweto and still lives there and it seemed to us that he knew everyone. His knowledge of Johannesburg and in particular Soweto is really amazing. Our party of four came away with a completely different perspective of Soweto and it is certainly a place that we will return to.
We highly recommend KDA Tours

Ken from KDA travels made our tour arrangements and he was very responsive and helpful. Our family of four was picked up from OR Tambo airport upon arrival and taken straight on a tour of Apartheid museum and Soweto. It was a custom tour just for our family and our tour guide was Bongani (Bo Bo). Originally we were assigned Ngugi as our tour guide and after reading many excellent reviews about him, I was a little disappointed when he was re-assigned to some other tour. However, Bo Bo was also well informed, funny and kept us in good humor all through the tour. He did vanish for about 10min to take a smoke break during the Apartheid museum tour and we were left looking for him :-). Not a big deal, but we just found that pretty funny. Overall, there are no complaints and I would recommend this tour operator to anyone visiting Johannesburg.

This tour made me realize that Soweto is very different from the 1970s Sarafina rendition. The guide was very knowledgeable and ensured that we saw all the different views and types of living in Soweto and understood the history behind each

I have been on a Soweto Tour before but this one is tailor-made to the preferences your group. Total value-added service provided by Soweto-born tour guide Mike, who is friendly, professional and hugely knowledgable, and brings the subject matter to life in an entertaining way. Soweto was at the turning point of one the most momentous events in the history of mankind and well worth a visit.
The tour also included a most enjoyable visit to Tinti's Butcher Shop and Grill for a superb 'Chesa Nyama' barbecue grill lunch and concluded with sundowners in the edgy Maboneng district of downtown Johannesburg. Highly recommended!

We spent yesterday with Ngugi in Soweto. We were all South Africans and we were blown away by the expertise of Ngugi. The history and vibrancy of Soweto became alive and we got to enjoy the most amazing meal at the cooling towers. Highly recommended!!
