The Irene Market at the Smuts Museum is one of the oldest markets in Pretoria and has remained popular despite many other markets opening around the city in recent years. I have not been to this market for years and found it quite different to what I remembered. Fewer stands and not the variety it was known for. While talking... More

The Irene market at the Big Red Barn is very hard to beat when it comes to choices in food and fare. There is a huge range of stalls offering everything from raw honey, art work, clothing and everything between, and the quality is good. Live music, craft beer, and an excellent choice of foods adds to the vibe of... More

This market was situated in Nelmapius rd some time ago but is now at the Red Barn in Botha ave. Many interesting food stalls from spit braai to jaffles, morrocan, chinese, healthy. Coffee is available at stalls as well as the small restaurant situated at the entrance. I did not even start walking through the rest of the market...there is... More

I have been to many flea markets and this is certainly the Best - It has hundreds of people selling their wares that you would otherwise not see and the setting is idealic. Note: it has moved now to the Red Barn, and the setting there is also awesome, very country!

It was the first time in 10 years I have been back at this unique market and it still remains the number one market in my book. All handmade items are a feast for the eyes, and the food available is a feast! A perfect place to bring your visitors or guests. Kids and dog friendly as well.

Pleasant morning outing, nice food, plenty of exhibitors and a safe haven for children. Affordable prices and enough parking. Relaxing outdoors activity.

This was my 3 trip to Irene's Market. I must say my favorite seller is Mike Nolte, Mike and his wife hand paint birds and animals on slate slabs. They have very reasonable prices. I have bought from him several times and his artwork is able to be displayed outside or inside with no fear of fading. If Mike doesn't... More

We invited several friends to join us try out something new. On 21 March (Human Rights Day) we arrived with our teenage kids just around lunch time (starving) and ready to have a good time. There was a long long long wait for enough tables to get 8 of us seated at the restaurant and the buffet braai in the... More

Hi Vanessa We did not have a market on the 21st of March. The market is every first and last Saturday of the month. The 21st was a Monday. Are you sure you were at the Irene Market. We would really like to apologize for any inconvenience, but not sure if you were at the right place? More
