Great to see how the great man lived

Excellent way to gain some insight to the man that was an integral part of the history of our great country.

The food and company was excellent but the venue needs some TLC. The landmark to the venue is overgrown by plants and the street not maintained. Also overgrown by grass and trees. So much that 2 cars can't pass each other.

This places is out of town and gives a very tranquil "farm" ambiance. The service is casual but the coffee and snack is "yummy". The walkabout in Smuts Museum is also a bonus and the entrance fee is reasonable.

Visiting Jan Smut's home gives one an excellent insight into one of South Africa's greatest statesmen. The property is well maintained, with original furniture in the home including an extensive library of diverse subjects and intrests. Beautiful day out in Irene.

Wow. What a nice visit! We did not actually visited the house, but did visit the terain. The walking trail and arboretum is beautifully maintained. They actually do a lot of effort with the upkeep. Had a lovely walk with our 15 month old. And it's dog friendly!

My admiration for Smuts increased more and more while walking through the house with the expansive book collection and the interesting facts from the guide. Well worth a visit!

This yet one another museum that is kept in good order by creative means while obviously being starved of funds. I had unusual historical questions for which the curator was called. He went to much effort to help me with my requests and to show me around and make the visit very special. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and being... More
