Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An interesting museum about a crucial part of the anti apartheid struggle. The museum was very interactive which was great.
Lots of information, easy to get to with a car, secure parking and a nice little cafe. Very glad we went

Staff provided no direction at all and decided they were going to close at 1 pm so they could go for a Christmas party during business hours. They then locked the doors to the half of the exhibition we hadn't seen at 12.30 and were particularly unsympathetic.... I'm told it's a great exhibition though if that's any consolation.

The original rustic homestead would have been more interesting instead of this modern epitaph to a concept rather than the harsh reality of a time of secrets and clandestine meetings in quiet suburban homes where families participated in a movement so important and yet so fraught with danger.

This was truly an amazing experience. We learned all about how "Mandiba" and fellow revolutionaries secretly transported arms across the country and planned the violent overthrow of the Apartheid government. We met with one of the last survivors of his original group that was captured with him. Absolutely worthwhile.

The experience was great. We had a tour of the place. An informative and entertaining evening by Mr. Wolpe who recounted the history of the place. The facilities are world class. We were treated to wonderful food as well.

I have 3 art degrees and have been to a LOT of museums: this is one of the best curated, informative, in depth and well designed museums I’ve been too. I was in SA on a research trip on racial oppression and I learnt more about the apartheid here that any other site I visited in Cape Town and Joburg. We had an incredible guide called Y, so intelligent, perceptive, insightful, and so well informed. There is a lot of content, so leave a good amount of time if you want to do it all. Highly recommended, this as a definite must see for Joburg.

No better place to view the period of the Rivonia trials. Interesting and informative. Hard to imagine the wonderful Madiba in that space. Locals and tourists should not miss it.

Well worth a visit if you are interested in ANC, but also paints a picture of South Africa during the days of apartheid. The farm has been restored and building are used as exhibition space. For a Swede, particularly interesting to understand the support from Sweden and Norway in the fight for liberation.

We (grandparents and grandchildren on a Road Scholar intergenerational program from the USA) knew about the broad outlines of the struggle against racial injustice in South Africa, but little about the details that culminated in the end of apartheid and the people who made it happen. In Liliesleaf we learned about many of the important actors and the early history of the movement. It's not as dramatic as the Apartheid Museum, but it's closer to the details. Not quite right for younger teens.
