Welcome to an Eden hidden in the West Rand of Gauteng where beautiful nature welcomes visitors and the rushing water of the Witpoortjie Waterfall, gushing from a height of 70 metres, soothes and revitalises careworn city-dwellers. The garden is home to a pair of breeding Verreaux's Eagles (Black Eagles) which have become proud symbols of this majestic garden. Walking, hiking, picnics, exercising, bird watching, relaxing, nature appreciation, are some of the popular activities of visitors to the garden.

Attended the Soul Inspired Concert. Definitely the right place to host a gospel concert. Nothing added only nature at its best.

This is an ideal picnic spot (note no braais allowed). You can hire a trolley with porter to carry your picnic hampers chairs etc. for R15 in car park. There is a R40 pp entrance fee so worthwhile spending a bit of time here. Stunning waterfall, dam with bird hide. Plenty of gentle walks and a tougher hike. Beautiful and... More

17/1 Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Roodepoort. Beautifully kept gardens. Many walks, fantastic waterfall, can picnic in areas except waterfall area. Many beautiful photo opportunities, great for kids, some fun areas for them. Plenty info plaques. Seniors (over 60) are free on Mondays. We weren't asked for proof of age, perhaps a little disappointing what with 60 being the new 50.

One of Johannesburg's crown jewels, everyone should visit these gardens at least once. The lower gardens are impeccable, not to mention beautiful. There are large gracious lawns for picnics and the waterfall is a short walk away. A local restaurant caters food and drink, while local guards happily help cart your picnic gear around. You can also go up the... More

What a great day to spend outdoors with nature. Had such a pleasant day out with various walks that were not difficult. The beautiful waterfall & eagles ( which I never saw today) they offer free entry for pensioners on a Tuesday or special price rest of week. Very clean as well as ablution facilities. Even the exercise garden is... More

A visit to these spectacular gardens is a must. So many paths to walk and climb up the mountain or you can just sit and picnic, and enjoy the beauty of Nature. There is a Restaurant if you'd prefer to eat there. A wonderful day out for the whole family.
