Disappointment in Kingman, AZ

This weekend we gathered our friends and family for an intimate occasion to celebrate a wedding at this little winery. There were many promises made to the bride with the understanding that this is a life changing event. Nothing that was promised or agreed upon was delivered. From the moment I arrived at the winery at 9:06 am the day of the wedding Steven (the owner) was already drinking and offering alcohol to the bridesmaids and wedding party all while making inappropriate sexual innuendos to the girls. He asked myself if I wanted to go help him with the grapes and that he already had a bunch of strippers from Las Vegas. While we were trying to set up for the party he refused to let us move or arrange anything to fit what the bride wanted for the wedding including seating/tables/trash cans/food and catering areas. We left to get ready for the wedding at the hotel because we were not permitted to get dressed or ready on property. When the guests starting arriving at the winery they were ushered into the tasting room to sign the guest book and being made to feel obligated to buy alcohol upon entry. The bride and groom arranged for open bar as part of the agreement. The alcohol was pretty much held hostage inside the tasting room for the entire evening and eventually it was worked out that they stop charging the guests per glass. While trying to work through a couple hiccups that came along as they do, Steven entered the house demanding we start the ceremony even though the groom hadn’t yet arrived. After explaining to him that we aren’t able to start without the groom he walked out and then was heard yelling at the MOTB about buying wine, while we were trying to take photos of the bride and her bridal party. The photographers were told they were only allowed to shoot photos in 1 room of the house where the bride was permitted to wait while being hidden from the other guests till she made her entrance. We were unable to even take full body pictures of the bridal party because we were squeezed behind a bed in a tiny bedroom. When the groom arrived and we were able to start the ceremony as we walked out to the gazebo we were surprised to see the DJ standing in the middle behind the equipment which didn’t change for the entire ceremony and will be visible throughout every photo taken during the vows. Steven the officiant was clearly intoxicated and slurred throughout the vows and even spoke inappropriately while performing the ceremony. When it came time, the speeches began. Nobody noticed till after the maid of honor gave her speech that champagne had yet to be served. We soon found out that although Steven was in charge of taking care of the wine/champagne and making sure it was given and available that WE the wedding party were expected by him to not only pour but deliver the champagne for the toasts to the guests. After serving the champagne to the guests we were able to continue with the speeches. As the speeches began Steven was at the back of the party conversing so loudly with his friends and caterers that the guests in the back couldn’t hear any of what was being said. I personally got up and asked them to be respectful and quiet that we couldn’t hear the speeches. He (Steven) got up and yelled out interrupting the best mans speech and told him he needed to move the microphone to his mouth and be louder because we were complaining in the back that we couldn’t hear him all while claiming 26 years in customer service in Las Vegas. Coming from Vegas and also the customer service industry i can tell you that his customer service skills are non existent. The minimum of expectations weren’t even met. Granted the vineyard is beautiful and has great scenery it would have been nice to be able to enjoy and capture the true beauty. Despite Steven’s many attempts to sabotage, the love shared by the bride and groom outshined everything else. This review is written by the bridesmaid AND sister of the groom. (Same person) :)

This isn't the normal wine tasting facility because it is in a garage while the owner is building vineyard and planting new sections every year. Steven loves what he is doing and is happy to talk about the process of starting a new vineyard. A very educational visit. Off the beaten path but there are two other more established wineries next to this one. I suggest a tour group to make sure they are available when you visit. The one we took, Havasu Tours went to two wineries and a distillery in the area plus an included lunch at the local airport. The countryside is beautiful and breathtaking.

This was our vineyard stop as part of a tour with Desert Wonder Tours. It amazes me that the proprietor is succeeding in what appears to be a very difficult environment. Anyway we were made most welcome by our charismatic host for whom this vineyard is a second career. Tasted numerous wines all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Some are made using the vineyards own grapes, others from grapes grown relatively locally in USA. However everything was made thoroughly transparent which is vital for authenticity and provenance. Bought 7 bottles and managed somehow to get back to the UK intact! There was time for a look at the vineyard and discuss the overall history and developments on a one to one basis which was great. Well worth a visit and purchase!

Venue was pretty to look at but the way the owner handled his business was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this place as a venue for a wedding/event until ownership/management changes so that the guests can be treated with respect. Again, the views and location were nice, but service was horrible and it appeared that the owner was more concerned with himself, instead of the guests of the event he was hosting. Do yourselves a favor and do not use this venue. I wish i could recommend but i cannot.
