For the last 16 years a group of us are meeting every Friday morning at 06h00 on Durban North Beach. Safe and secure parking. Safe walking and running on the promenade. Great restaurants that open early in the morning. Bee hive of activity. The most beautiful sunrise in the world. Great for the soul.

A complete change from a few years ago. The beach front has again become a pleasurable place to go. Thre is a wide walk from Blue Lagoon to Ushaka, and is patrolled by beach officials and police making it relatively safe. One can walk, jog, pedal car, bike, or skateboard along the whole promenade and there are a number of... More

We drove down here and decided not to stop. There are lots of cafes and lunch places. We did not stop because we where unsure of our safety. We are white English but very well travelled. The beach is very nice but the sea is quite wild. You do not visit this place in the evening.

The golden mile offers a variety of restaurants and activities for any budget. You can choose from riding a bicycle down to beach front to sipping cocktails at a bar

Lovely feel of the Durban locals with people of all ages and races walking around, bathing, surfing, eating. Site well maintained and clean. Excellent exercise venue or just relaxing

From Ushaka to the mouth of the Umgeni river, this seaside promenade is well kept, clean, safe and well used by runners, cyclists and walkers. There are many market stalls where you can barter for souvenirs, cafes for refreshments or just admire the beautiful sea views as you wander along. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Major part of the hotels are located in this area, by the sea. It is very good because you can park your car and walk, appreciate the sea, ride a bicycle. You have a lot of activities going on, and you just can have a cup of coffee in one of the several restaurants and appreciate the view for the... More

We spent an entire day walking along the beach promenade and rented bikes at bikes and beans for an hour to cruise around. Also great to just sit and people watch or just soak in the sun!

This place is beautiful and well maintained, however, you will find yourself being bombarded with beggars and time share promoters. Spoils the romance and kills the vibe. These holiday club people don't leave tourists alone!
