Bot Gardens as referred to by the locals is a staple destination for anyone in Durban or those just visiting. There's just so much, with the odd music show, great spots for amazing photos,a quaint coffee vendor and tea garden, and lots of parking. A visit here restores the soul as the deep shade and magnificent trees remind you of... More

Gardens weren't very clean. it was lettered and unkept. Kids could play there , as we were walking we found syringes with needles in them laying the grass and we left immediately. Not many people were present at the time.

The gardens are renowned for their orchids. Its well maintained and great for picnics. It's a great get away for a few hours to reconnect with nature and enjoy some peace and quiet. There are outdoor music events held at intervals..watch the press for details.

The gardens is well maintained and a beautiful attraction to stroll in. It's small so plan a picnic to extend your stay in tranquilly, go to ensure that you can get shade.

Took a stroll around, very quiet and peaceful, lots of trees and flowers. A great place to have a picnic. A beautiful orchid house. And best of all it's free

With trees like the soup tree, which is a natural cleaning detergent for washing clothes, to the fig tree with roots so huge that an adult can hide under the tree! With breathtaking flowers and eerie leprosy trees. With beautiful views, cool shady picnic sites and delicious foods, this is definitely a family outing which could be enjoyed for hours... More

We have visited the Durban botanical gardens during our city tour. The gardens was not so big and not crowded. There some unusual trees and some with long age. Better not visit it in very hot or rainy weather. Not very interesting for kids. The indoor orchid section was beautiful, even it was small. You can take you lunch with... More

Very serene and extensive gardens with interesting planting. There is a refreshment area where snacks and drinks can be bought. The gardens are used for wedding photographs and receptions. The staff are helpful but there is a lack of varied gifts.

One of the best and oldest botanical gardens in South Africa. I just wish it was even bigger so I could spend even more time there. It's informative but not boring. If you love nature or biology, its a must go. If you just want somewhere to have a picnic or a walk? It's grass patches and pathways are beautiful.... More
