A break away from the rush life

For a quick break away from a otherwise busy day the Queen Park offers a perfect retreat. Lots of plants to see, and good photographic opportunities

This park is a fantastic retreat from the city. It's small, and has seen better days: the roads aren't in great condition, and the education centre clearly hasn't been used in years. However, this doesn't make a difference to the visit: it's clean, safe, and great for a grasslands walk. There are basic amenities. It's best suited for a park... More

I was amazed to find QE Park so close to home. It is absolutely fantastic to have a hiking, picnicing and all time chilling spot right on my doorstep. There's braai facilities, nature trails and nice playspots for the kids. Amazing Birds and butterflies too!

I always enjoy a visit to Queen Elizabeth Park when I'm visiting Pietermaritzburg. It's peaceful, and quiet. While it hasn't had rhino for about 20 years (maybe more!) its still a thrill to see the zebra's and rooibok. It's great in the early mornings for misty walks when the sun is coming up and the animals are just waking. It's... More

Sorrounded by large trees and lots of wide open spaces. Small but, has many nooks and crannies for wonderful family picnics. Have been visiting the park when I was little with my parents and now still visit regularly with my wife and daughters.

A few buck, a zebra or two and plenty of monkeys. Pleasant if you are a local but not worth a special visit.
