Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took a walk from our resort to the lighthouse. The joggers feel like the own the place. One cannot walk peacefully here as joggers usher you left and right. People congregate in groups with no sense on the pandemic we are currently facing. Some of them have no masks, and those that do, are basically warming their chins. :(

Let's get one thing sorted... it's pronounced: Prom-i-nay-d. (same pronunciation and spelling as lemonade, blockade etc.
Alright, back to the review, other than it being very popular and crowded during peak times (before and after usual business work times) and the fact that no bicycles or other wheels are allowed, it's really nice to walk/sit/crawl/run your dog or partner (or by yourself) along the beautiful promenade with a delicious view of the Indian Ocean.

We stayed at the Teremok Marine Hotel so enjoyed the 20 minute walk along the Promenade into town. We stopped for a drink at the Lighthouse Bar at the Oyster Box Hotel, which has great views. The promenade is well lit so makes a nice walk in the evening too

The umhlanga rocks promenade allows for a very safe and beautiful scenic walk or run. I have walked it both day and night and have found it to be very safe and secure with regular security patrols.
Peak holiday periods may be somewhat challenging with less than sober visitors.

The Durban sun can be quite hot so I'd say out up some shades for bathers. Not everyone can afford to hire an umbrella. Dustbins were emptied regularly which was nice. Also close to the pearl shopping centre and restaurants.

Great for morning walks and beach views. Lighthouse, whalebone pier and a little coffee shop are all close to each other and fabulous. Really enjoyed walking this in the morning and evenings when come back from dinner

Safe walk along the Umhlanga Rocks Promenade is a wonderful experience. You can stop for coffee or a drink along the route. There are bathrooms if needed. Life guard protected beaches for swimming.
