The Gary Player Golf Course needs no introduction. This world-renowned course was designed by Gary Player, and is the home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, now part of the European Tour Race to Dubai. This picturesque 18 hole, par 72 walking course is surrounded by a 5km scenic running trail. Since its opening in 1979, the course has been acknowledged as South Africa's premier championship test of golf. The home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge since 1981, this immaculately groomed layout has received rave reviews from the world's top golfers, who agree that it is both demanding and fair. This course has been consistently rated as one of the best in South Africa, and compares with the best in the world. The first course in South Africa to be constructed to stringent USGA specifications, this layout is famed for its length (over 7000 metres from the championship tees), its dramatic backdrops of the Pilanesberg Mountains, and its spectacular indigenous vegetation that flanks the fairways. The first facility in South Africa to be built with multiple tees, the course can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels of skill, but even from the forward tees it remains a challenge. A distinguishing feature of the course is its greens complexes which allows for interesting pin positions on the clover-shaped putting surfaces protected by strategically placed bunkers.

I am a high handicapper but still enjoyed this course. Having a caddie helps greatly with their local knowledge and ability to suggest club selection after just two holes. My caddie, Lucas, a10 handicapper must have been a little frustrated watching my golf!! He could read a green and i have never putted so well. It is a walking course,... More

A very challenging course to play for the average golfer, especially after 3 weeks if rain. In fact, even low handicappers would have battled to play the semi rough - the ball literally disappeared. Halfway house - which is included in the steep green fee - was disappointing. The choice consisted of either an unbuttered cheese and (1) slice of... More

If you love golf and are in the area then this is a must play course. It's a real challenge so if you are a low handicap or scratch golfer you will love it. If you are a higher handicap golfer then take some balls and be prepared for a long walk but it's spectacular and a great course

Enjoyed the round of golf on a truly magnificent course. From tee to green the course was well manicured, although the greens were a little faster than I was used to. It is certainly a course where you need local knowledge, and the caddies were amazing and knowledgeable. Whats the point of having a round if you can't have a... More

We come to Sun City annually and always enjoyed having breakfast here. In the past we experienced great service and good quality food at a great price. This time, the menu has changed, food was very mediocre and service slow. My daughter had the Baker's basket that consisted of 2 muffins and a piece of toast and jam. No cheese,... More

Small tasty lunch menu. Chicken pie is a winner. Setting is fantastic, especially midafternoon when the monkeys make their way past to the lake area

Amazing day at the event - the course was magnificent and proudly showcased. Proudly South African when we share this with the international community.

Couse was being prepared for the upcoming October tournament. Stands all going up so gave us a good feel on what it would be like. Course was sensational. Caddies looked after us. Hire clubs were ok too.

I was very fortunate to play the Gary Player course this week. It is truly stunning course at an unbelievable value of 550ZAR + Caddy at 150ZAR. The layout and the views are first class with many interesting features, a Caddy is essential to find your way about. The greens are very quick and if you have a down hill... More

The Gary Player course is the groomed course at Sun City, as opposed to the Lost City links course. It is a great course and worth playing by any golfer staying at Sun City.
