Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Awesome pool located in an super central location, next to all the Atlantic seaboard attractions. Very busy during peak times, so either come early or be expected to que. Some lockers operate on an bring-your-own-padlock principle so it is good to keep this in mind. Great for an quick swim, diverse audience.

Cool place along the prom to go if you like to swim or have kids who don’t like the sea or your hotel doesn’t have a pool. Few food huts nearby and you can walk right along the prom in either direction either towards V&A waterfront or to camps bay! (Clifton is closer) great area for sunset

I regularly swim at this pool and think it is excellent value for money (current adult entrance R25.30), and there are also concessions. There are a choice of pools and mid week they never seem to get really crowded. A couple of days of the week school children also use the pool, however they tend to be in the smaller pools leaving the 50m one fairly free. It is busy on weekends with family's bringing picnics and staying the day. There is a food outlet on site and beds/umbrellas are available to hire, however, you can also bring in outside food along with your own chairs etc. Some people may query the 5* rating as the toilets / showers are pretty basic and the showers are only on when there are no water restrictions, but this venue deserves 5* just for the view. It is a fabulous location and you often get a bit of a breeze from the ocean.

The location of the Sea Point pool is in itself remarkable, right on the edge of geological formations that are millions of years old. Although showing its age a bit, the pools are a delight - olympic sized main pool and specialised pools for diving and children. -all seawater and slightly heated.Swimming here is a unique experience, and a treat for lane swimmers, with the sea water proving a degree of bouyancy that is unusual. Large surrounding grassed areas surround the pool with shade provided by trees, for lazing or sunbathing. The area is uncrowded during the week, but VERY busy on weekends when locals descend en masse . The changing facilities are adequate but not first class.

Here you feel and smell ocean everywhere! But too cold to swim! Great idea of pools near ocean. Kids enjoyed it very much, especially diving pool. Lifeguards were coordinating them, so it was very safe and fun stuff. Other three pools are very clean, bathrooms as well. Better to keep your belongings with you, not sure lockers work properly. Good place!

In 40 years, I have never swum in a more spectacular pool! It is 50 meters and located just adjacent to the ocean. It is a salt water pool for serious lap swimming with a cool view of Lion's head. The water is cold, so be prepared. There is also an adjacent shallow pool and a diving well with diving boards and platforms. With an entrance fee of only 20 Rand, it was practically free. I was there in the early fall and had the place mostly to myself.

Entrance fee is nominal, the pools are clean and they range from olympic sized pool to a large paddling pool for toddlers. There are lawns and trees where you can enjoy a picnic. Next to the pools is the Pavilion with outside tables with spectacular views over the ocean and seashore. Stalls sell food ranging from mexican to pancakes.

I suspect the complex hasn't been refurbed/updated for some time therefore it is a little tired in some respects.
It is only R23 to go in with seniors free. There are 4 pools - all outdoor and bordering the sea - one long (main) one, two smaller ones and a nice diving pool. Some areas are nicely block paved but others need some repair. I am sure the drought has affected the appearance of the grassy areas which do look parched and dry and a bit neglected.
I don't suppose it has changed that much since my first time here but it is worth visiting if you are a keen swimmer.

As of Feb/Mar 2019 are there functional lockers at/near the men's changing rooms?

And if not, for weekday visits by solo visitors, any suggestions on how to keep any belongings safe while swimming? Cheers.

Hello, I just read your review of the Sea Point swimming pool.
Can you tell me what the approximate water temperature was for the larger pool? Was it at least 18 degrees (Celsius)?
Thanks!
Written 7 June 2018
the sea next door to pool was cold !! yet the sea water in the 4 pools was beautiful . perfect for swimming .

Follow up to SybilF's question. I will be in Cape Town in early July 2018. Is the pool open in July and if so, is the water temperature at least 19 degrees Celsius?
Written 18 May 2018
Is it heated?
How about swimming in July?
Written 24 June 2017
It is not heated - so unless you use a wetsuite, probably a bit cold in July
