Labia is one theatre which I like the most in Cape Town simply because of its legacy and simplicity. Very good coffee and caramel short breads!!

I am in love with independent movie houses, and in Cape Town the majority of that love now officially goes straight to the Labia. The 'old dame' has the wrinkles to show she's lived a good life – the cinema doesn't have the best sound; it doesn't have the comfiest chairs either – but her spirit is what really makes... More

This is a great date-night option. The Labia partnered with nearby restaurants for a dinner and movie special. You can find the details for this on their website. The Labia itself is charming. It looks like an old-fashioned bioscope with gold and red velvet interior. The seats are a bit old, and the previous showing's popcorn messes weren't cleared before... More

Unusually, we arrived early to buy tickets. On giving our tickets to the usher- still about 10 mins before show - to be told it was already "too full." They offered to bring in chairs for us to sit on but couldn't fit those in. I approached the ticket box asking how they could have sold us tickets for a... More

The Labia has been a cinema since the 1940's - it shows current and Art movies. They have great specials on Mondays and Tuesday's. You can buy a glass of wine and take it into the cinema with you and there is loads of legroom. Highly recommended

Every weekday the Labia joins with nearby restaurants to offer this special deal for two; check out their website for details. We went on a Tuesday so the deal was two Labia movie tickets and two pasta meals at Societi Bistro, a three-minute walk down Orange Street. Cost for two tickets and two meals, R110. Yes, R110! Nearly all the... More

Went on a busy Friday night. Nice outdoor patio space, but it's uncovered so not much use when it rains. Inside the old world decor is well taken care of. Adorable ticket booth, nice restrooms. The bar has great cocktails. Screen 1 has only one entrance/exit, so it makes for a mini stampede at the beginning/end of each movie. The... More

The Labia, Cape Town's retro theatre has 4 cinemas featuring a diverse menu of alternative/specialist/latest Oscar and other nominated films.A touch of the old and the recently upgraded retro feel creates a great experience..only the increased popularity has created some congestion just before starting times. The Labia has recently enlarged its terrace area where in the evenings patrons can enjoy... More

A nostalgic experience watching a movie in a lovely unchanged setting from the old days. Definitely value for money on the price.

The Labia movie theatre is a great experience and best value for money. Interesting and eclectic decor that only adds to the whole experience.
