Recently, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a service that fell far below my expectations. From start to finish, the entire encounter was marked by incompetence and frustration.

Firstly, the lack of organization was glaringly evident. There seemed to be no coherent plan or structure in place, leading to constant confusion and delays. Communication was abysmal, with important information either not relayed or misunderstood, adding an extra layer of chaos to the situation.

Customer service was another major letdown. Instead of addressing concerns and resolving issues, the staff displayed a remarkable level of indifference and apathy. It felt as though my concerns were dismissed, and there was a complete lack of accountability for the problems that arose.

Furthermore, the overall quality of the service provided was shockingly poor. Whether it was subpar accommodations, unreliable transportation, or a general disregard for customer satisfaction, every aspect of the experience left much to be desired.

In conclusion, this encounter was nothing short of a disaster. The combination of disorganization, poor communication, lackluster customer service, and low-quality offerings made it a truly regrettable experience. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough research and due diligence when selecting services to avoid such unpleasant situations in the future.

Cannot say enough great things about the tour. An amazing value for money. The Nomad team was incredible, they all worked so hard for us & really made the experience what it was (and it was the best).

Our guide Gift was such a highlight, so positive, passionate, and knowledgeable - everything you could hope for in a guide & more. He was truly a Gift to every one of us!

We camped, which obviously involves a bit more work with setting up / taking down camp, but we enjoyed the challenge and really enjoyed being so close to nature.

The campsites were great, and the food was delicious! Again, thanks to the guides who can really do it all - including cook :)

Certainly some long days (and long days in the truck), but absolutely worth it for everything we were able to see & do. It was a very well curated itinerary, very well thought out & we enjoyed absolutely everything.

Our guides made it feel like a family from day 1 and it was so hard saying goodbye.

Again, cannot recommend the tour enough! Massive thanks to the best guides ever - Gift, Casper and Michael

Myself and my friend joined nomad tours for a 7 day garden route tour. The tour itself was very affordable compared to other companies. Highlights include: Bloukrans bungee jump, waterfall hike and swim at tsitsikamma and the Fairview Wine and Cheese pairing.

Pros:
~Lots of activities (although not all included) so never a very heavy driving day which was nice.
~Our guide managed to fit in a few extra activities (price not included) that were not advertised on the itinerary which was super nice!
~Accommodation was basic but last two nights in Stanford valley guest lodges and Karoo Art Hotel were very nice and such a treat. We even ate at these hotels for breakfast and dinner and the food was very nice.
~stopped off along the garden route at many places we were keen to see. Good route.
~Felt very safe which is so important in a country like South Africa.
~Driving route 62 was beautiful and very scenic.
Cons:
~the bus was quite outdated, dirty when we got on because the tour had already been going for 2 weeks. It has the necessities like a usb port and seat pouch. However, from what I have seen other travel companies trucks are much more modern and comfier.
~no toilet on the bus which made the long bursts of travelling a bit stressful because you didn’t have a say in whether we could stop for a toilet break. Saying that the truck did stop fairly frequently for a toilet break.
~Food was basic and repetitive. If you are a fussy eater I do not recommend, otherwise it’s fine! Brian did an amazing job at catering for such a large number of people and trying to provide food for people with such a variety of dietary requirements.
~The guide was not passionate and unapproachable which was a shame. It seemed he had the same job for many years and wasn’t interested in connecting with his travellers and ensuring everyone was having a good time/understood what we were doing next.
~very early morning starts, not a con but just beware if you are not a morning person.

Nomad is great for affordable tours as they can be so expensive these days but if you can splash out I would recommend. Saying that, I would be keen to try another Nomad tour in a different African country eg Namibia. Having a passionate tour guide makes a huge huge difference.

Fantastic trip, so informative and jammed packed! The truck and team Victor, Tarro and Tesh were flat out constantly looking after the group of 18 people. Great food, breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked by them daily. Lovely guides. The included activities were amazing. The tour is full on and not for the feint hearted, mostly early 6am starts, some very long road trips up to 10 hours a day, but plenty of stops along the way and all worth seeing.
Namibia was amazing, lived up to everything I’d imagined, Botswana equally amazing but different and seeing the Victoria Falls in the final 2 days.
I’ve travelled all over the world independently, but never like this or in a group. Perfect way to see the best of Africa and cover so many highlights. Step out of your comfort zone and give this a go, Nomad will definitely look after you and cover all the best highlights.

We first met Nomad at a travel expo and worked with them to customise a unique experience.

As part of our honeymoon, we spent three months travelling from Mozambique, South Africa, through to Uganda and loved it.

We saw some breathtaking sights and truly stunning wildlife, but most importantly, we met some amazing people along the journey.

We would highly recommend travelling across Africa and travelling with Nomad

We did the 5,645 km. 20-day Cape Town to Victoria Falls Tour.
Overall: Tour with excellent highlights in a truck that requires some serious overhaul.
Positives:
Thandiwe Ditsele, our Reservations Consultant, patiently and promptly responded to the questions we had. Otherwise the tour dossier and pre-trip information provided are very comprehensive.
Calisto, our excellent driver on mostly very bad roads, and Gabriel, the main Nomad representative and chef, overcame shortcomings with humor.
Fellow passengers.
Daily seat rotation to allow all to sit towards the front of the truck, as truly no one wanted to sit in the back rows.
Quality of accommodations, except Windhoek, that is not well located to allow for optional activities with ease.
Wildlife in abundance in parks and on some roads.
Food quantity, potable water on truck.
Negatives:
The truck: This was the biggest disappointment on the trip. There are so many details that can be improved, that you wonder who has designed this vehicle, given Nomad’s extensive experience. It was dirty when we stepped into it on day one, worn, noisy rattling truck walls, tight, uncomfortable ‘low-cost economy’ class seating, with no HVAC or toilet - which also meant not drinking enough water to avoid additional stops - too many non-functioning USB ports, no beverage refrigeration except cooler with occasional ice etc., etc.
Time mostly spent traveling between distant highlights, shopping for snacks and beverages and pit stops, eating and sleeping: very little exercise possible.
Days 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 14, 17, 19 and 20 are poor in highlights, besides traveling or out of scope activities. All other days were excellent and exceeded expectations.
Insufficient communication during trip: we faced 2 issues with our accommodations that were never properly explained and caused unnecessary aggravation and delays. Also, very limited information provided regarding the highlights.
Food largely based on carbs and often repetitive.

Fantastic 2 week trip lead by Dr T (Tawanda), Mama (Tembe) and Asiphe. What a fantastic crew, great leadership, driving, food and entertainment by such a happy crew.

Trip was a mixture of camping and accommodated. All sites were lovely and offered a range of different locations. Beehive lodges is Mlilwane were so comfortable and it was great to have antelopes, warthogs and monkeys on your doorstep. Bay View lodges in Barra beach was our favourite, can’t beat an ocean view. Accommodated tents in Kruger is my kind of camping - lodges with canvas walls. Luxury.

Wildlife was in abundance. All you could hope for. Saw the Big 5 in Kruger by 11 am, bonus. Witnessed a fantastic humpback whale display by mother and baby in Mozambique. Our game of footy on the beach was interrupted as we stopped to watch whales from the shoreline. To name a few we saw lions, leopard, buffalos, elephants, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, nyalas, kudus, impalas, water bucks, wild dogs, hyenas, wart hogs, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, various birds, etc.

Great mix of experiences throughout the 3 countries. This is my second Nomad trip - can also recommend Namibia to Vic Falls. I’d definitely recommend Nomad to fellow travellers.

Amazing Nomad Africa - Namibia to Victoria Falls

A life-changing experience with memories that will be forever treasured.
We arrived in Namibia and we were greeted by the sight of where the desert and the ocean meet. A magnificent landscape like no other!
After 2 wonderful days exploring Swakopmund; going into the Namib desert on a guided excursion through the huge sand dunes and introduced to the most incredible desert creatures; got to experience the brightest, uninterrupted starry night skies – we travelled along to our next destination, Brandberg and Kamanjab. As you travel the landscape changes from desert dunes to grassy plains, trees, and majestic mountains.
2 exciting Safari days spent in Etosha National Park where Zebras grazed between Blue Wildebeest, Giraffes lazily chewed leaves from the trees. Kudus and many more deer all around. We encountered Cheetahs hunting their prey.
Our last night in Etosha was spent at the Okaukuejo waterhole. As the sun was setting and the blue sky turned dark pink, a herd of elephants and their babies were enjoying the waterhole. The tranquil, magical feeling of this evening will forever be engraved in my heart.
Leaving Namibia behind and entering Botswana, words can not describe our next 5 days.
A scenic flight over the Okavango Delta is a must for everyone on this trip. To see the landscape from above changed my whole perspective. With the flight scenery still fresh in my mind we arrived in Kwhai, where we spent two amazing days going on open Safari vehicle drives and experienced the Okavango Delta in the Mokoro boats guided by the Okavango Polers, surrounded by Crocodiles, Hippos, Elephants, and many more was such an amazing experience. Our camping spot was situated next to a waterhole – sitting around the fire in the evening with our group, listening to the sounds of nature and everyone sharing the day’s highlights. Waking up to the sound of Elephant footsteps around the tent!
Our next amazing excursion in Kasane (2 days in total) was an evening sunset cruise on the Chobe river with our guide who was extremely knowledgeable.
We spent our last two days in Zimbabwe. We started our journey here with a scenic helicopter flight above the majestic Victoria Falls. After the amazing flight, we were taken on a guided tour to the Falls. It is truly the most amazing feeling to experience this nature wonder. No words or pictures will be able to capture the actual experience. Our last day in Victoria Falls ended perfectly with a sunset boat cruise on the mighty Zambezi river.

I would like to mention the Nomad Crew, who contributed to making this trip amazing:
Our cook: Mama Francina, who prepared our meals with love, always smiling and always making us feel safe – the word Mama describes her perfectly.
Our guide: Malinga – So much knowledge, so much passion about nature and wildlife, super entertaining!
Our driver: Trust, well experienced and kept us safe on the road for thousands of kilometers.
A special thank you to Nomad Africa Adventure Tours, I will forever be grateful and look back with fond memories!

Travelling from Windhoek to Victoria Falls.
Guide, Driver and Cook were always kind, helpful, funny bit serious enough when you have a concern. The other participants help one another and we functioned very well as a group. Wildlife, Nature and the locals you meet are a wholesome experience. We met elephants, lion, leopards, giraffes, buffalos and many more. What i appreciated the most about the people (and don‘t take for granted) is their respectful way od treating plants and animals. The roaddays in the truck are long, but the experience worth it! Take some good book or a easy playable game for long hours in the truck with you.
Check the temperature forecast before your journey. 😊

After years we wanted to do it again before we get too old :-) camping in Africa ! Since we only had a week for the camping-part of our holiday Nomad was perfect - with offering people to book short tours as well as long tours. We had a great group experience and camping was like it has been in the past - just great.
Although it´s often long driving days in Namibia, the tour was a good mixture of activities and driving (don´t miss to watch out of the window, there is always something to see)
We went CapeTown to Swakopmund. We really liked it. Those who are not that fond of the desert should book a different route or a longer route so that the desert is not that dominating. For "desert-lovers" like us ít´s perfect.
Thanks to the guides for good guiding and excellent driving on these roads ! And for the good food of course - meat lovers, vegatarian and vegan, everybody was happy !
