It´s a nice experience to know and experience the history of one of the world´s greatest leaders, but sometimes the visit becomes rather boring with expendable details.

It's an emotional trip without much to go on. The process is very straight forward book early and the weather allowing the ferry ride ride to the island will be smooth. Carry some of your favourite bitings as there is a Little cafe for a...More

Part of South Africa history and well worth a visit. Its a 20 min boat ride to the island and probably best to book.

The guide was a former inmate. This was such an educational and emotional experience. The boat ride over, we saw two whales and it was not whale season. Suggest taking $$ to tip the guide.

I gave Robben Island four stars only because it is a place you should visit when in Cape Town, but there is nothing pleasant about it. Robben Island is an unfriendly godforsaken place, where cruelty, punishment and subjugation was a daily occurrence. Your guides are...More

Going to Robben Island is not about a great enjoyable day out. It is about paying respect and visiting an area so that the history of this country is not forgotten. No one is ever really going to know what happened here and the past...More

As far as tours of historical places go, this is top notch. It was organized well, reasonably priced, very educational and enjoyable. It's a fascinating place with a fascinating history. We were so impressed that a previous inmate of the island guided us around the...More

Our tour had the boat tickets. We had a nice boat ride to the island and the busses were waiting for us. The island was a prison for some eastern European princes, criminals, revolutionists, and also people suck with lepracy. Our guide in the prison...More

We booked the boat tickets in advance and this included a bus tour of the island and a walking tour of the prison - whilst the group size for the prison tour was very large I wouldn’t say it’s worth paying extra for a private...More

My partner and I did this tour the last day of our holiday and found it incredible. The tour is very organized, took about 4 hours--including ferry to and from the waterfront--and were impressed by both the bus and walking tour guides. The walking guide...More

Our guide was not a political prisoner but was a criminal . These are very different people. He tried to glorify his time in Gail but nobody was fooled.

As said by others, you spend quite some time on the bus and while in the walking tour you can seat. Don't worry it's really worth seeing it

It is chaotic at the Quay and where there is chaos there are opportunities. You might find a hotel concierge, not necessarily your one, might be able to help for a fee.
