Join one of our seven daily free tours that run from Green Market Square on the Corner of Burg Street and Shortmarket Street. The Free tours run 365 days a year - no booking needed. We will be there. Look out for the umbrellas.

Free tour number one:HISTORIC TOUR at 8:50a.m, 11 am and 2p.m:

A one and a half hour tour around the centre of Cape Town with tales of iconic leadership and peaceful revolutions but also with spoiled squirrels, a 360 year old fruity guy and a very depressed lion.

Free tour number two: BO KAAP TOUR at 11a.m,2 pm and 4:20p.m:

A one and a half hour tour around the beautiful Bo-Kaap where you get to see the colourful houses, smell the spices of the East, hear the mosques calling for prayer and let the Cape Malay food tempt your taste buds. We might even show you some hidden away places to get a local beer.

Free tour number three: DISTRICT SIX TOUR at 4:20 p.m:

A one a half tour around the neighbourhood of District Six,a former inner-city residential area in Cape Town that was built by a number of different nations who were forcibly removed from the area in the 1970s during Apartheid regime. We will be taking you around the corners of the city to get a taste of how people lived and you will also get some very interesting recommendations about what to do and to eat around the area.

We look forward to seeing you! :)

Highly recommend for a good overview of Cape Town history.

I joined the walking tour of Bo-Kaap with Charlie in May 17. Charlie explained the history of the area well showing there was more to the area than pretty coloured houses. Well worth joining if you're in Cape Town and want to know more about the beautiful city. They explain before that the tour is free but tips are accepted... More

Our guide, Daniel, did a great job sharing Cape Town history (and some myths) in a fun and entertaining manner. And he recommended a Cape Malaysian restaurant that turned out to be terrific. I'd encourage any first time visitors to Cape Town to take one of these tours. But please don't forget to tip.

Great walking tour with guide, Ken. Was very open and honest about how the "free" process worked. Was energetic and well informed. New history very well, spoke clearly and loud. Gave advice on what positions would be best to stand for best photos

We took the Bo-kaap (might be spelled wrong) tour with Ken. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave great recommendations for things to do in the area. 5 stars!

We did the historical tour with Ken and we just LOVED it. He is very passionate about the history of his city and he explains everything very well, also telling some of his own personal stories. We were around 20 people but he still managed to communicate in a way that we could all hear him properly, even stopping if... More

The tour is advertised as free but they do expect to be paid some thing at the end. A very clever marketing ploy to advertise as free. The tour is an hour long and takes in historic buildings with in reach of the main market square. If you read up on Cape Town you could very easy do your own... More

We participated in three of the four tours in March 2017. Our guides names are remembered, but not seen on the current website. My assumption is turnover of employees keeps the offering fresh--- as the guides are young, knowledgeable, enthusiastic & informative. We are four 60+ aged adults and writing this review to state ‘Free’ is not necessarily for the... More

With my girlfriend and two friends, we joined the Bo-Kaap tour with Ken. Ken is very knowledgeable and provided us great insight in the history of the neighborhood and its inhabitants. He also shared nice tips on local restaurants and bars. Last year we took the historical tour with Manny, which was great as well. Excellent initiative, really worth the... More

We went for 2 walking tours with Kenith and had a great experience. We learnt so much about the city that the tour was worth the time. Must recommend for people who enjoy walking and exploring.

Brilliant knowledgable guides. It was a spur of the moment thing but so glad I did it. I learnt so much and really nice friendly guides. Just remember to tip them if you enjoy it. A few in our group just walked away without tipping and they really looked as if they were enjoying it.
