I had been avoiding this place because i was prejudging it on other bird sanctuaries around south africa (not worth it) HOWEVER, this one was great and my son enjoy it thoroughly. Hint - Take mosquito repellent though - this is a must!

Had a GREAT time at the World of Birds. They had a ton of different garden areas and lots of birds to view. I liked how everything looked like these birds were in their natural habitat and all were pretty much uncaged!! There were some...More

STAY AWAY!!! The place is overrun with rats and doves (which is mostly what you will see). The birds that are still there look terrible (not cared for) The place also looks like there is no maintenance done and falling apart and VERY dirty. Many...More

Please visit this charity funded sanctuary and bird rescue centre. It was set up by a German man over 40 years ago who has built this amazing place from scratch with no initial funds. In his own words he told us “every soul has a...More

Great charity based sanctuary. You could walk through many of the aviaries which was pretty cool. And at certain times of the day, you can enter the monkey enclosure (Just with the little monkeys) which was a ton of fun!

Well worth a visit, a charity funded sanctuary and bird rescue centre. A lot of exhibits are unwanted pets and rescued birds. They have a ‘no kill’ policy so provide a second chance for many injured animals. Close to Hout Bay so plenty in the...More

Think of this place as a bird/animal sanctuary and you will understand. This is not a commercial zoo, it is the culmination of 45+ years hard graft by German passionate about wildlife. He collects birds and animals that are unwanted and often abused. They have...More

On the onset this is not a zoo. From my understanding this is a charity based Aviary which I really enjoyed. To my expectation I did not expect to see so many birds at such closed distance. They have tried their best to provide natural...More

Firstly the bad reviews aren’t fair! It’s not a zoo! It’s a donation based sanctuary and if you don’t like the condition of the cages please donate and buy them a new one. Considering how poor a lot of the country is I was glad...More

If you are interested in birds, then World of Birds is certainly worth a visit. About 150 aviaries, most of them walk through, where you can come face to face with hundreds of different species. We only had a short time available but you could...More

In April, it was R85 (£3.50-£4.00). But worth it to see the honey badger! And they really need the financial support!!
