A very busy place and booking appears to be better than just turning up on the day. The pre-boarding briefing was excellent though many of the visitors appeared to ignore this. The boat was quite full with everyone wanting to be on deck to see the whales, and see the whales we did. Whilst there were not hundreds, there were... More

There was not really much to see but that is nature. The thing we really missed was some explanation about the birds, ... to make it interesting. In my opinion to many people on the boat as well.

We decided on this company at the recommendation of our landlady. On arrival we were charged low season prices, as there were few whales and informed that we would be out for up to 3 hours. During the thorough and very informative briefing on land, we were informed that we wouldn't see any Southern Right Whales as they had headed... More

With just Bryde's whales being present, it is a complete waste of time and money. First, you cannot actually see much of these wales...second, it is more like whale chasing than watching (these do not come close tono hugh the boat and are just being chased by a huge catamaran). Unfortunatelly, no one told us that other whales are gone... More

So well organised that you arrive and all is done for you.The Crew are fantastic, the boat lovely and they seem to know just where to go for perfect whale watching. Before you board everything is explained to you and they take a video throughout- so you see yourself going onto the boat, while you are on the boat and... More

This was our second time of visiting Hermanus and our second trip with Southern Right Charters. Everything is so well organised and Ken the Guide is so knowledgable. Our first trip was in the afternoon. Then we went out on a very early trip next morning when we were delighted to be fortunate enough to see Whale's breaching. This made... More

The crew on this charter were first class and did just about everything they could have done to make the trip first class. Fortunately even the whales did there bit and a great day was had by all.

I booked the only 6:30am slots available 2 days in advance in the hope of better whale watching and because of the favorable weather forecast. The land based whale watching was quieter than our last trip 7 years ago and we were really treated to amazing show of whales on a clean modern boat with commentary provided in English. At... More

Very well organised, good boat but of course the experiende depends on the sightings. This year (2016) seems to be bad year, approximately 20% of what is normal and 2015 was not too good either. While we were there we had a boat tour with Southern Right Charters, everything fine and well organised. The approx 6 whales (which is not... More
