Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was only a few rand, but the display really needs updating. The staff were lovely and vert enthusiastic - like the kelp whale calling trumpet demonstration!

Nice view, please book ahead of time to avoid disappointment. More sea harvest orientated menu with the addition of a sushi menu. Not a bad restaurant. The view is fabulous.

The Old Harbour museum was one of the two museums we visited in Hermanus. We did visit the museum about 8 years earlier. Have to admit that I was shocked to see that the chip anchor was missing. When I asked on the staff they told me it was stolen during the night a few months earlier. Other than that, the museum is value for money and gives you a great idea of how Hermanus was started. I do recommend this to first time visitors.

My mother donated my grandfathers fishing boat to the museum. He used to be a fisherman all of his life in Gansbaai. I went there recently and it is still there and perfect!
Thank you for keeping the history from the area alive.

We found this place by chance, and decided to have a look around, full of information, and exhibits. We would recommend a visit.

Of course you have to visit this place, it has some interesting memorabilia and photos and the lady in charge is very eager to talk about the place. It could do with upgrading though...I feel that these places "rest on their laurels" a bit too long!

A smaller museum, but if you look there's enough to give you a sense of the past ways of Hermanus.

The entrance is just below the two cannons on the main sidewalk on the sea side.

The Old Harbour museum which encompasses the harbour itself an indoor museum in the old fishermans huts on the slopes of the old harbour. The old harbour indoor museum contains several exhibits depicting the history of the fishing and whaling industry in the area

Not too much to see but very quirky and nice local feel. The ticket for this museum also provides entry to the Whale House Museum so worth doing both if you're in Hermanus as they're not far apart.
