A must do when in Knysna

Great walk along the cliff and amazing view. Perfect after a lunch at East Head Cafe, one of the best restaurants in Knysna. The sea is really beautiful in that area.

This was easily one of the best views of the area. Its a large area and easy to get too and tons of parking. Great!

I have taken many visitors to the Knysna Heads and they are always blown away by the beauty of the area. I can't imagine going to Knysna without seeing the heads.

Changes with the tides and the light - great for pensive reflection, as well as family outings - there are two eateries and an ice cream shop at the car park.

The Knysna Heads is the entrance to the beautiful Knysna estuary (erroneously called the Knysna lagoon). The steep cliffs stand as sentinels at the entrance which is known one of the three most dangerous entrances to lagoons / estuaries in the world. The rocks around the heads have destroyed countless ships which miscalculated the wild currents caused by a moving... More

The knysna heads are an absolute must-see when traveling the garden route. There is something magical about being able to see beautiful mountains, a stunning lagoon and a wild, incredible ocean all in the same glance. We had numerous encounters with the knysna heads during our stay at knysna - we could see them from our accommodation, we went through... More

Went on the boat trip saw the heads and that was about it, there was 20 of us on the boat and we all thought the same, bit of a waste. The harbour itself was nice to walk round.

The Knysna Heads are a "must-see" when in the area. There is a cliff-top walk with stunning views of the "Heads" and the rocks way below. The sea can be pretty rough and be viewed from high above.

Despite the severe lack of parking in season it remains a favorite stop on the Garden Route due to the gob smacking sunset views on the walk to the heads (starts on hillside behind Restaurant) and if you're lucky you will see a yacht entering this rare natural deep-water access point to the lagoon!
