Brenton-on-Sea is great for walking and sunbathing and is popular with paragliders. A big rock formation, castle Rock, is a favourite fishing spot for locals. Swimming is dangerous because of rip currents.

Fancied a change of scenery from the middle of Knysna, so we had a drive out to Brenton and so glad we did the beach was stunning.

A gorgeous beach with a easy walk down a path to gain access to the beach. Toilets available and parking is available at the top. We saw black oystercatchers eating mussels on the rocks in the bay and discovered surfing snails in the sand. A seriously beautiful sandy beach. Hotel at the top can provide drinks and eats if required... More

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon in Brenton. The approach from the N2 provides some stunning views over the bay and a visit is worth it just for these. The beach at the end of the road is among the best in the world. Long silver sand which is pristine and provides numerous places to lie and enjoy the sun... More

Yes, you should book for more than a single night. You should get a sea-facing room. You should get a picnic basket, enjoy the sunset and climb down to the private beach. And then enjoy a great breakfast the next morning. That is all.

We only stayed a short time to observe and photograph the sunset. Lovely long beach, plenty of seats on the cliff and downhill stepped access. Great on a nice day and only a short picturesque drive from Knysna.
