So close too Heaven

I'm so pleased that we travelled along this little road while traversing the Prince Alfred Pass. Perfect views of Plettenberg Bay and Knysna and the Outeniqua Mountains.

Blown away! I saw Knysna and the Garden Route in a way i never had before. It was like being a pupil in Dead Poet's Society when Robin William's tells them to stand on their desks. We went on a sunny day which you should too so that you get the best of every view. Across the forests, we could... More

We often took the turn, taking us to the top. Layers of colour stacking into the receding distance. Turning the collar up against the nip of the mountain air, sitting quietly letting the view burn into the everlasting memory files in my brain. It feels good. Sitting on top of the world.

Most panoramic views from Robberg to the Knysna Heads and more. Visit the "big tree" on the way and marvel at this monolith!

We decided to take a look! We were driving a VW Polo up a single steep track designed for AWD vehicles, but there was no turning back so we just did it and it was well worth it for the spectacular views. Interestingly we met a vehicle on the way down, fortunately in one of the few passing places!

Worth a trip, though a 4x4 car is needed, best 360 degrees views on the coast, the ocean, the mountains ....

To get a panoramic view of all the beauty of the Garden Route, you can't do better than Spitzkop. To the north you can see the Swartberg, Kammanassie and Kouga mountain ranges stretching majestically east and west, and to the south you have the sweep of the Indian Ocean with the coastal towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay half-hidden by... A stunning well kept lookout with extraordinary panoramic views circling from the coast, taking in hills and forests before sweeping back to the coast. The view point has benches and some grass. To get to the lookout a 4 x 4 vehicle would be advisable , although the roads from Knysna to Spitzkop are ok for a normal road car.... More

Drove up there today, 20-1-2015 for a picnic. Fabulous 360deg views. Great place to chill out. We would not try to get up there in anything but a 4x4.
