Meeting place on the R62 just outside Oudtshoorn was given for 5.45 am. From here the 5 cars plus 2 guides drove about 11 km to the area of the den location. We first, gathered round for coffee / tea and an initial briefing. We were provided with folding chairs and the group of 12 were led another 500 meters to... More

Having read the reviews we were looking forward to this experience, however we were a bit disappointed overall. There were 16 of us in the group which we felt was too many and meant we sat in a very large semi circle so when the meerkats got up we were a lot further from them than I had expected. We... More

We booked this through our hotel De Zeekoe. You have to meet your guides at 5.15 am and then you go off and sit in deck chairs around the meerkat burrow. Our two guides were really well informed and interesting having studied and worked with these animals for a number of years. A|lthough they have been "conditioned" to accept humans... More

We booked in advance from the UK not realizing that it would be weather dependent. Fortunately we had fantastic conditions and had the most memorable experience of our entire trip to SA. The meerkats are enchanting and its very special to be able to observe them in their natural environment. Yes, its expensive but to be honest I'd rather see... More

This is a unique opportunity to see meerkats in their natural habitat emerging from their burrow at first light. Dolf, our very informative guide provided us with folding chairs which we carried across shrub land to sit around a burrow and wait for the meerkats to stir. It's not staged in any way and the meerkats are not fed or... More

My husband was so excited for this tour, but we both felt like we paid far too much for an ok experience once the tour concluded. We timely drove to the meeting spot at 5:15 a.m., and then we were informed that one of the guests was having car problems so the Company had to pick them up. Thus, we... More

Wow, what a wonderful experience to enjoy real life tales of a wonderful meerkat family. Devey and Jaco were great with sharing their knowledge of meerkat in their natural habitat. Loved the way the meerkat family rose one by one to start the day and enjoy the sun to get their metabolisims going. They were there oblivious of our presence... More

We hesitated greatly for this activity due to the high cost. It will set you back by 550ZAR a person. But once you see those little creatures from close distance (2-3m) you are glad you did so. I would strongly recommend to anyone who loves animals or who wants to see them in their natural habitat to go ahead. There... More

The Meerkat Adveture was for sure one of the highlights of our stay near Oudtshoorn. You have to get up early to be at the rendezvous point at 5:00 am, but it is worth it. We drove with several cars to the starting point. Everybody was handed a foulding chair, and then we walked to to place where the meerkats... More

We had booked this experience before we left the UK based on recommendations on Tripadvisor and were certainly glad that we had. Although we were up at the crack of dawn and the meerkats decided to sleep in that particular morning, when they did surface from their burrow, it was definitely worth the wait. These are fascinating little animals and... More
