I had an hour to spare, and went to the museum. Beautiful well preserved sneak preview into the opulence of the past, of Ostich Barons and their way of life. Worth a visit as well as the R20 entrance fee.

History and artifacts of early Jewish migrants to this area of special interest. Staff were most helpful and solicitous. Only negative, and a minor one, as that the premises could have been a little less dusty.

I wasn't sure what to expect as there were a number of older negative comments. I believe they predate the renovations. The room on the ostriches was very informative, including the involvement of Jewish merchants in the business.

Not only the building but also the well decorated rooms provides you with a superb insight of life in Oudtshoorn during the early years. Many artifacts has been kept in good condition and also the Synagogue inside, which is still in use, is unique.

This Museum is the archetypical museum style place. has loads of potential for a tea garden and more exciting exhibits. Perhaps needs a bit more inter-active exhibits. The place is well kept and maintained by the staff, but a person leaves feeling that a golden...More

Very pretty and fairly short historical review of the town. Really interesting to see all the stories, personal and collective that have transpired in that area of S.A.

The best, most complete & well preserved museums, depicting the life in SA & Oudtshoorn from Victorian times to present, ever visited in SA. Well worth a visit.
