We found the nature reserve with no problem but it wasn't desperately clear where to park as there were a load of tractors and works vehicles at the entrance and no signs to say it was the start of the Reserve but we left the...More

Friends took us out on Heritage Day to this heritage site. How befitting. This was our first visit, but definitely not our last. The only downside is that there are only toilets at the main gate. The best part - on Heritage Day, you do...More

Hiked the Tweede waterfall trail up to the second waterfall and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hike is a mellow one with just a small steep section before the second waterfall. The footing is tricky on that section with some rocky bits that can get slippery....More

I had booked all my activities from Viator, but I did leave one day open for any possibility. I met Ken Treloar, a photographer on a previous hike in Cape Town. Our energies got along, and he suggested this activity for me. I like to...More

Easy and most scenic hike to the first waterfall however it must be noted that a low suspension car is not recommended as the road is extremely rocky. It was also disappointing that a few visitors to the reserve were playing loud music and continuously...More

Would suggest going on a week day to avoid crowds and as early as possible. Was spectacular to see the sun come over the mountains. I have been on a couple of occassion and enjoyed a variety of trails, some less strenous than others. Packing...More

The first few km's that you have to drive was a bit difficult with a low range car. Would advise a high range car for a smoother ride in the nature reserve. The waterfall was nice.

We visited the Assegaaibosch nature reserve on 9 Aug 2018 and saw the construction site on entering the nature reserve opposite the parking area. We then proceeded to the picnic area. While at the picnic area, we were very disappointed to witness one of the...More

We drove through the Nature Reserve, but were not overly impressed. There was one nice spot on a bridge overlooking a small creek, but there were several other parties already picnicking there, so it wasn't very restful.

I've been there a number of times but never encountered this - might be an issue around holidays I suppose. But people arrive and leave all the time anyway.
