About
The Rupert Museum is a riverside facility with paintings, sculptures and tapestries by 20th-century South African artists. The Museum consists of four galleries, a small library, a café, a versatile workshop space, and a lawn and gardens where sculptures can be seen. Entrance to the Museum is complimentary, and free guided tours are offered every Wednesday and Friday from 11:00-12:00 and 13:00-14:00. Walkins are welcome, but you can also book your spot at rupertmuseum.org. Museum Saturdays are hosted every last Saturday of the month, where visitors are invited to join art-inspired workshops, talks, live performances and a pop-up menu at the Café.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Rupert family have done much for art and tourism in South Africa. Take a slow walk through the galleries, have a snack at the little restaurant - see the mural that Vladimir Tretchicoff had in his living room (transferred to the restaurant now)

A gem in Stellenbosch. Wonderful Pierneef collection and a great overall experience. Also, the cafe makes good lunches.

Such a beautiful place a little bit outside Stellenbosch but worth a visit! Both the art collection with a lot of South African classics like Irma Stern, Maggie Laubscher or JH Pierneff and the carefully selected changing exhibitions are outstanding as the beautiful building in a lush garden which combines elements of Cape Dutch and modern elements.
There is a rich cultural programme every month for old and young, concerts, even yoga classes and a nice coffeshop.

Thouroghly enjoyed the Rupert, it had a wide array of art to suit a few tastes, and the Johannesburg station collection were breathtaking, some of my favourite art I've ever seen. Haven't stopped thinking about them! Well worth a visit!

a truly well curated set of exhibitions, ranging from old to new, oil to photography, nature to portraits, a wide variety of exhibitions. The main object was to see the Pierneef station panels, a must see. The installation art and other forms wre a added bonus. Beautiful museum, well maintained. Friendly staff welcoming you and assisting with any enquiries.

Lovely place to visit when in Stellenbosch. See different art works - some new some old. If you love art give yourself enough time to appreciate every item.
There is a small place to have something to eat / drink and no entry fee is charged.
The Johannesburg Railway Station Panels from Pierneef is a permanent exhibition.

All car enthusiasts will appreciate this collection of cars. The facility is superb and the number of rare cars are seldom seen under the same roof.
