My niece and I have been intending to visit Giraffe House for some time, and we went last week. We were both shocked at the accommodation of the wild animals. Three giraffes are housed in a large fenced camp, where there is not the slightest bit of shade, not a tree or shrub in sight, and not even any grass to speak of! In the next camp are two lonely zebras, with the same conditions, and beside them are two eland. At the very end is Gerry, the celebrated giraffe, who was trying to eat the top of the fence when we visited. The animals all stand listlessly, baking in the heat. The other cages are just as bad....the beautiful Turaco, a member of the lourie family, is in a cage so small that it can never spread its wings. A general feeing of deep sadness forced us to leave after twenty minutes, and I will NEVER go back.
I do not like having to write negative reviews about attractions in my country, but this place is even worse than a zoo. Please avoid it.

I am a regular visitor at The Giraffe house and each time they impress me even more. They are constantly improving and upgrading the facility, making sure that all wildlife at the Giraffe house is well taken care of.
The staff is made up of a group of passionate wildlife educators who make sure that every animal is provided with a safe space, and visitors are well educated on each of the species.

The Giraffe House is a Zoo. Although the place is neat and well-kept, the wide variety of animals are kept in small cages. The giraffe are housed in an enclosure without a single tree for them to browse on. The giraffe house leaves you feeling sad and depressed for these poor animals. My children asked us to leave just after arriving. It is definitely not an animal 'sanctuary' or 'awareness centre'.

We visited today and went around the whole place in 15 minutes, which we thought was way too expensive for R280. The giraffes were in a small enclosure at the very back because the main fence was being repaired after the strong winds last two days. You could therefore not really see any giraffes in a place called the giraffe house. The entrance staff should have warned us this before we paid to come in. There are a few crocodiles and a couple of monkeys and a tortoise as well. But all the animals are in what I consider to be enclosures way too small for the the animals happy life. Even though I note the sizes are dictated by minimum regulation standards. It just appears too small. I will not be visiting again.

This is a mini-zoo of sorts, with somewhat limited diversity of species on display. The "crowd magnet" is obviously the giraffes (or rather, an opportunity to feed them) - but do mind that the chances of actually interacting with the giraffes are rather low because they do as they please, most of time just ignoring you. There are antelopes, zebras, etc. as well, but they, too, prefer to ignore you. The most inquisitive one are ostriches.
I cannot fully agree with some previous commentators: the animals don't look neglected or depressed. The enclosures are quite big - which makes for a lot of walking.However, and generally speaking, they might use an upgrade: if some trees or interactions stations could be planted there to give shade and stimulate movement, it would greatly benefit the animals (I think) and make the park look less "deserted".
If you are visiting with little kids, they have animal interaction shows where the staff is introducing kids to some small animals, educate them on the importance of conservation and let kids touch the animals.

Went for a nice Sunday afternoon stroll. Park is spotlessly clean and the animal enclosures are tidy and well kept. Looks like alot of love goes to the animals. The 30 minute show was interesting and informative but for covid reasons kids couldn't touch the animals. Only down side was the boerie roll and chips. Wasn't nice at all

My wife, our baby daughter and I visited the Giraffe House and we were quite impressed how big the enclosure was. There is a lot of animals and you can get quite close to some of them and feed them. You easily loose track of the time and end up there longer than expected.
We also watched the reptile show which was quite informative.
Just don't go in high summer as the space itself has very little shade, even for visitors.

When we tried to visit, we were told to leave because we didn't have on wellies/boots. It had rained and the ground was a little wet and we were wearing sneakers. The rest of the day we visited other parks and with no wellies, our feet were fine; we even got rained on at another location and we really didn't mind. And even if our feet had gotten wet at this location, I am sure I wouldn't write a bad review for that cause as you cannot control the weather. However, the lady at the ticket booth gave us the evil eye as I went to use the restroom before leaving; she pretty much followed us until we exited the park. It was a very disappointing experience!

The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre is a hidden gem! As the name suggests, you have the opportunity to see (and maybe even touch) giraffes, but the establishment is rich with many other interesting animals. Young and old will enjoy a visit to the Giraffe House. I visited the park with my friend and it was so relaxing walking around in our own time looking at all the beautiful animals. We were also pleasantly surprised at the affordable entrance fee!

We were lucky enough to be able to feed the giraffes Pretzel and Gerry during a “one on one giraffe experience”. Please note, this activity must be reserved in advance with the park.
The supervision of Bianca and her colleagues was caring and informative. We were able to pet the giraffes and literally play with them (put a carrot in their mouth and they come and take it for example). It was absolutely extraordinary.
Then we attended a small presentation, extremely well done, of good length and amusing, on certain wild animals. Children of all ages and adults really enjoyed it.
The tour of the rest of the park was charming. Crocodiles, talking birds, lemurs, a porcupine, owls, meerkats... with comical and detailed explanations and above all a clear desire to respect animals and educate the public.
This is a visit that I highly recommend.
